I'm really curious because a friend of mine (who went through the GC process a number of years ago) told me that the interviewer will often leave the room with a 'fake' excuse (photocopying, asking a question, etc.) I was told that this was so that they could observe you while you are unaware.

So, how many people who recently interviewed had this happen - or is it an urban legend?!!!

N-400 Journey

June 9th 2012 - Application sent

June 14th 2012 - NOA sent

June 28th - Biometrics letter sent -- July 26th Appointment date

July 12th 2012 - Early Biometrics/Walk-in

August ( ) - Interview letter received -- September 14th Interview date

September 14th 2012 - Interview! Oath date in hand, September 20th @ noon!

I haven't heard of such a thing. Most AOS interviews are only a few minutes in length and are very quick and smooth running. :yes: Our AOS interview was only about 10 minutes and no one left us alone in the room. :no:

Sept 18, 2009: Received 10-year Green Card!

July 15, 2010: Sent N-400 packet
July 23, 2010: NOA Notice date
Oct 15, 2010: Citizenship Interview - Passed!
Nov 15, 2010: Oath Ceremony in Fresno, CA
Nov 24, 2010: Did SSN and Applied for Passport
Dec 6, 2010: Passport Arrives
Dec 7, 2010: Sent for Indian Passport Surrender Certificate
Dec 27, 2010: Surrender Certificate Arrives
Jan 3, 2011: Sent for Overseas Citizenship of India Card
March 1, 2011: Received OCI card!

Divorce

Feb 2015:​ Found out he was cheating (prostitutes / escorts)

Ours lasted about 10 minutes and she never left the room...Just a few questions, review a few documents and told her that she was approved.

No longer in the hands of the USCIS, for my wife at least, next up MIL.

Our interviewer left the room, but he was actually making copies. If he was secretly observing us, he only heard some boring chit chat about how hot it was going to be that day.

AOS:

02/29/2008 - Wedding Day!

03/29/2008 - Mailed AOS packet to Chicago registered mail

04/04/2008 - Delivered to Chicago Lockbox

04-10-2008 - Check cashed!

04-12-2008 - NOA1s arrive for AP & AOS

04-18-2008 - Biometrics appt letter arrives

04-29-2008 - Biometrics appointment!

04-30-2008 - AOS status shows up online

05-16-2008 - AP status shows up online - both AP & AOS are touched!

06-05-2008 - AP touched and email sent saying AP has been approved

06-12-2008 - AP arrives in the mail

07-10-2008 - Interview letter arrives - interview scheduled for 09/05/08

09-05-2008 - Interview in SF (don't bring your cellphone!) -- approved! Email sent saying card has been ordered!

09-13-2008 - Welcome to the United States letter arrives

09-15-2008 - Green card arrives in the mail! YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY

Our interviewer was with us for the 10 minutes or so. He asked for a few things and we gave him all the copies and told him they are all yours to keep. He said I'll not bank statements.. I'll only look at them but took copies of marriage certificate etc..

If so paranoid, Why give him/her an oppty. to make photocopies. Carry photocopies of all the documents.

Ours left the room to make 2 photocopies of pictures. If we were being observed while they were out of the room, who cares? Why would it matter if you were being "observed"?

I see it more as curiosity than paranoia. I'm curious now too. :P

But whether or not it's true, why not use the time you and your spouse are alone to enjoy some couple time together? ;)

We provided all the photocopies that were needed....and no, she didn't leave the room in our 20 pleasant minutes with her.

05/29/2008 --- Entry into the US on Visa Waiver to visit my girlfriend for a summer holiday and to help take care of her sick father where needed.

06/20/2008 -- After the sad passing of my girlfriend's father, we decided to get married and stay together

08/08/2008 --- We get married, lovely ceremony and dinner with all of Sarah's family present :-)

08/25/2008 --- AOS package sent to Chicago via Fedex overnight priority mail. Fingers crossed now!

08/26/2008 -- AOS Package received in Chicago, signed for by A.Smith (1 day before my VWP expires!)

09/02/2008 -- Checks cashed!!

09/03/2008 -- NOA1 received for I-485, I-130 and I-765.

09/05/2008 -- Case is shown online as pending!!

09/08/2008 -- Biometrics appointment letter received for September 23rd!! (For both I-485 and I-765)

09/12/2008 -- Biometrics walk-in completed, 11 days before the appointment! In Hackensack NJ.

09/20/2008 -- RFE for I-485 received. It was dated September 17.

09/25/2008 -- RFE response evidence sent out to Lee's Summit by USPS, certified mail.

10/02/2008 -- RFE response evidence received and case processing resumed!

11/04/2008 -- EAD CARD PRODUCTION ORDERED! Thank you Lord.

11/10/2008 -- EAD card received in the mail! wOOt wOOt!!!!

11/12/2008 -- SSN ordered from Hackensack, 2-4 weeks in mail!

11/28/2008 -- SSN Received in the mail, wOOt!!!!!!!!

12/7/2008 -- INTERVIEW LETTER RECEIVED!!! It's scheduled February 19, 2009 at 8:30am in Newark. *nerves*

2/19/2009 -- Interview 8:30am - Green Card verbally approved

2/23/2009 -- Welcome letter received! followed by I-130 approval notice!

My interviewer left the room for 15 mins saying she needed to speak to a supervisor, whom she never actually found.Interview was an hour long and most of it was spent whilst I watched her read things in my case file. It was horrible and I don't know what she wanted to ask the supervisor. I was told I'd just hear from her. She took my I 94 and my last 2 expired EADS. Apart from that nothing. I was so nervous and hated the whole experience. So stuck in limbo once again. Oh she did tell me the FBI were cleared, so what now ?

Filing I 360 3rd Nov 2005

Prima facie determination received from Vermont 20th Nov 2005

DIVORCED JANUARY 25th 2006

EAD applied for again (jeez I need to work ) 28th Feb 2006

Removal hearing July 12th 2006

RFE's received for I360 and EAD 13th October 2006

NOID received March 2007

EAD denied March 2007

Back to Immigration Court April 18th 2007

NOID request for evidence received USCIS 3rd May 2007

I 360 touched May 31st 2007

I 360 actually approved May 30th 2007

EAD filed June 23rd 2007

I 485 filed July 24th 2007

NOA1 for I 485 August 1st 2007

EAD approved August 6th 2007

Medical with CS August 28th 2007

Biometrics August 24th 2007

Paperwork sent to Immigration Judge to finally terminate removal proceedings September 10th 2007

 

GREEN CARD FINALLY APPROVED AFTER 4 YEARS September 9th 2008 :D

 

N-400 Filed online 03/04/2018

NOA online 03/05/2018- projected Citizenship completion date December 2018

Seriously, we will have our interview on the 25th so this is a good info :)

Removal of Conditions :

August 16, 2010 - Petition received by USCIS Vermont Center

August 20, 2010 - NOA1 received

October 4, 2010 - Biometrics

January 3, 2011 - Permanent 10 yr. Green Card Received.
