September AOS filers

I'm not sure. After I received my EAD, I went to the SS office and re-applied. The very helpful woman took my old SSN, a copy of my EAD, and gave me a receipt that I would receive my new SSN within 6 to 8 weeks. The receipt, she told me, could also be used as proof of a SSN if needed when applying for work.

If I am correct, you don't need to do anything with SSN after receiving EAD, it's only after receiving GC you need to go in to remove the "restriction" wordings on the SS card.

I have a question about my social security number. I was under the impression that once we receive our EAD we had to go into SSA and have something changed with our SSN, is this true?

I was told the other day at the infopass appointment I had to do this so I've been down to SS this morning and I was turned away because there was supposedly nothing that needs doing.

Who is right here? I'm very confused and annoyed and I'm hoping someone can help me before I have to call USCIS again and ask them for help.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I went to my SSO on December 8. If I remember correctly, the lady at the SSO told me to come back after receiving my EAD. I received my SSN card today but it still has the same information on it - "Valid only for Work with DHS Authorization." So I'm going to say that those who have posted here to wait until you get your GC are right. The lady at my SS office gave me incorrect information.

I'm so sorry. It sucks that they still didn't send any RFE! and just for a stupid code! maybe you should contact an ombudsman now!

On my side I don't know what s wrong with my case, I can't take an infopass. they keep saying that there s no appointment available for now!!

AOS touched again today (2 days in a row) at CSC....

Status still the same, received and pending.

Yep, it's good to know that someone at the CSC is working on these AOS cases. Mine got touched yesterday too, but the status is still the same. I have a feeling that we'll start to see more approvals soon

ok, this is weird. its been two days I can't check my status online from my computer, but for some reason it works from my husband i phone! So I checked, and I haven't been touched on AOS, even though I know from the USCIS girl on the phone my case had been transferred few days ago to Denver...

But it seems that only people from CSC got touched! Hope we'll all get a letter soon in the mail!!!

I still don't have any touches, but I have my interview letter. Online, it still says case pending. So don't worry, the website just isn't update some/a lot of the time

You can still give them a call like I did yesterday. Asking them to check your status for your AOS...I dont have any touch (since my biometrics in Oct.) but the lady told me that my AOS had been transfered a couple days ago to Denver. Maybe the person will give you this kind of info... It still good to know!

yes, just the normal customer service to check your status.
