I started to write about how I met my fiance for our declaration of how we met and I started to become worried that I was writing to much information. I am not sure exactly what they are looking for in this part of the form. I just started by explaining why I was in Romania and how I met him. Then I started getting carried away describing in detail about when we started dating and how many times I came back to visit and how hard it was to leave. I just wanted to know if its a good thing that I am going in such detail or am I including the wrong details? Can someone please give a sort of outline of the main topics I should talk about?

I guess it should be

-How and when we met

-When we started dating?

.......

-When we got engaged?

Help please~ :)!

I suggest sticking to the details and leaving out all of the "lovey dovey" stuff. You should give date/location of meeting (if on-line give the website) and then include dates that you were together....

You can also write when you started dating...

USCIS wants to know a synopsis, not a story.

Good luck!

You don't need a lot of detail. They're only asking how you met. I simply put "Met in person from Sept.3, 2006 to Sept.10, 2006 after communicating for months over the internet." The dates not only showed that I met the requirements of having met once within the last two years but also matched the dates of my passport stamps, boarding passes, trip itinerary, and hotel receipts.

Ditto with what everyone else has said!

From what you said, it sounds like you did include what you needed to plus a lot of non important details. You don't need to tell them how hard it was for you to leave. I'd suggest that if you have visited numerous times (and they have visited you) then you include all of those. Like explain how you met in a very brief 2-3 sentences, then all the other times that you saw each other. Then you could put a sentence in at the bottom that says something like, "During the times we were apart we used email, MSN, letters, and phone calls to communicate with each other everyday". Or something like that.

As the others said, you could make it a lot more simple than that, but that is what I have done with mine. Although, I applied for a previous K-1 that was never finalized -although I did get my NOA2- and all I said was that "we met in Vienna on XXXX and then I visited him in Australia 6 months later and we have been dating ever since". And that was approved!

Good luck!

Anything beyond the details of how and when is not necessary, but I will admit to going further than that in my explanation. No harm done. We were approved in 61 days.

Just to add another vote. I'm pretty sure I wrote too much, which was about 0.8 of a full page, single-spaced. However, it didn't hurt me and was approved. It took awhile, but it was expected with the California Service Center.

Hi!

When I filled out my petition, I included the "lovey-dovey" stuff. What matters most is the quality of your evidence. By the time that I had submitted my paperwork, I had 3 trips to visit her completed. I had tickets, receipts and photos. the important thing is that you keep to describing and proving that you have a relationship. It isn't required that you have the romance of the century.

Avoid anything that is unnecessary and might make them ask questions, but be honest. For example, you wouldn't want to say, "every time we have a lover's spat she comes running back", or "she lives somewhere in the mountains of Thailand". I know that this is an absurd thing to put in the document, but you get my drift.

Send copies of receipts for an engagement ring, phone statements, tickets, pictures etc.
