Hi Everyone,

My fiance is Filipino. I am a US citizen. She has no immediate family here in the USA. What are her chances of getting a tourist visa to come here and visit me. Even with me submitting an afidavit of support I think the chances are slim. What are your thoughts? Thanks....

Stephen

"She" would be a "Filipina" but you're right. Slim and none. Lean toward none.

Visa applicants with presumed immigrant intent are not eligible for B2 (tourist visas) but from a high fraud country like the PI, a single female is unlikely to be granted a visa without significant assets being left behind and additional evidence of strong ties to the PI. My wife would never have been granted a tourist visa to the US from China, even if she were leaving her daughter behind.

Because they think she will come here and stay. The fact that she is the fiance of a USC makes it even more slim. File K-1 or get married and file for K-3 or CR-1.

Well,

The only way if she is very RICH and has lots of houses and a high income bussiness then and maybe then.

You see USA dont want to take a chance with anyone anymore. It takes alot to bring someone young to the usa but IF she is over 55 years old then no problems it's alot easier.

I rmeember before in 2001 anyone can just fly with no problems. I have friends from ISrael and France fly in but no more.

Afer Sept 11th, 2001 everythnig changed.

Just hang in there as soon she gets her noa2 then it's about 6-8 weeks then she will be with you.

My fiance tried twice for a tourist visa after him and I met, and he didn't get it... I would say its a pretty slim chance she would ever get it.. Now I worry him trying is going to hurt our chances of the Fiance Visa..

Appy for the Fiance Visa, the wait isn't too bad..

Basically, she has to be able to show strong ties to her country. With a country like the Philippines, it would be even harder/impossible for her to attain a tourist visa.

Not only is it imperative she prove ties to her home country, but it's also up to the individual reviewing her case.

Basically, I'm sorry to say it but it'd just be a waste of time applying for a tourist visa with absolutely no home ties to her country/no evidence proving she's not going a flight-risk.

I have applied for a tourist visa three times so far. At the time, there was no mention of a fiance or anything else in the States. I really only wanted to be a tourist. Here are details of how awesome it went down and how wonderful and fair the system is. I will be applying for another tourist visa in about a month, probably only because my fiance and I feel like donating $130 to the US government.

I really hope K-1 is nothing like that.

Badgerella,

Haha, I'm not laughing at your situation, only at how you said you and your fiance feel like donating 130.00 to the US govt.

Anyways, the K-1 is nothing like that. Of course, you DON'T need to provide ties to your home country, and the process is pretty straight forward for the most part. Although it is lengthy, it's fair for the most part, although certain countries have a lower success rate for the K1 than other countries. The tourist visa system is a bunch of garbage/B.S.

Good luck!

Hi Stephen,

The immigration is really tough in the Philippines as many Filipinos is going to the US every year.. My husband tried to apply for a visit visa for me when we were just dating, I was in Kuwait that time, but they denied it.. REASON: I dont have immediate family in Kuwait. the consul told us that it will be best for us to get married in Kuwait, or apply a Fiance Visa and get married in the USA.. I felt embarrassed when they told me that "DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU WILL MAKE MORE MONEY IN THE STATES? I did not expect that she will ask me that question.. I have shown her my salary certificate and other documents as well as the Affidavit of Support from my boyfriend (who is my husband now.) but they have denied my application.

But you know thing are paid off now.. i am done with the immigration process...no more paperwork to think!
