Can we stop and give this guy a break? It's his first post, just starting this process, and now has a baby on the way. Remember when you were just starting all of this?

Every case is evaluated on its own merits... no one has A CLUE as to how these are prioritized anyway... those of us who are stressing out about the IMBRA delays have enough to worry about without taking on the worry of how many pregnancy cases go before us as well.

Everyone's patience is being tried these days....

Yes. Absolutely. On this particular issue, I've found the opinions on

VisaJourney to be terribly ill-informed. I believed all the nonsense that was

written here saying that pregnancy is not a valid reason for expediting a

case, nonsense that was based on opinion, not fact. Having gone and found

out the facts myself, I think it is my duty (and any right thinking person's

duty) to criticise, in the harshest possible terms, the voicing of incorrect

opinion over fact, especially on issues like this because many peoples'

lives will be affected in the most profound manner.

Personally, I was glad to see your post about what you did, elwintro. I had never heard anyone who had any success expiditing due to pregnancy, as I'm sure no one else here had either. Yours is the first post I remember seeing that had some success expiditing for that reason. If that makes us ill informed in your opinion, so be it. I suspect you won't find pregnancy listed as a reason for expidition on any of the government sites. At the end of the day, we're only as good as the information we have.

That said, expiditing due to pregnancy doesn't seem to work for everyone (as KAA just mentioned). I guess it just depends on a lot of factors.

Next time someone asks that question, we can ask them to PM you for your tale. Maybe it would help them too.

Hmm a little condescending don't you think?

Yes. Absolutely. On this particular issue, I've found the opinions on

VisaJourney to be terribly ill-informed. I believed all the nonsense that was

written here saying that pregnancy is not a valid reason for expediting a

case, nonsense that was based on opinion, not fact. Having gone and found

opinion over fact, especially on issues like this because many peoples'

PS I would trust the "masses on VJ" over one person.

Well, more the fool you. The fact of the matter is that my fiancee and I have

been through this, we've spoken to people, and gotten results. What have you

done? Are your suggestions based on any personal experience, or are you

making a best guess based on what you've read on VisaJourney from other

people who also have no personal experience on this issue?

Don't get me wrong, VisaJourney is a very valuable resource in trying to figure

out the family-based immigration process, but the nature of this resource is a

collection of subjective posts from other individuals. On issues like pregnancy

and expediting the K1 process, I've seen very little informative content from

posters - most people just dismiss the issue with one lined replies that don't

give any objective, experiential justification for such a response. As such, one

should regard these posts with extreme caution, and be resolved to go seek

the truth on the matter by getting in contact with the appropriate authorities.

Truth is not determined by a majority vote. Just because everyone on these

boards thinks pregnancy is not a valid "excuse" for K1 expedition, doesn't

mean it's true.

I simply said that I don't think it would be that easy to get a case expedited simply on the grounds of pregnancy nor (sorry to say) do I think it would be fair. There are many people here that want to be with their SO for various reasons, and they aren't getting the chance to jump ahead in the line either. Terrific to you that you have been successful in your case. I wish the OP the very best for their case. Sorry about my attitude in my previous post, but I was a little irked at some of your remarks. To answer your question, no, I'm not speaking out of personal experience because my husband and I did not choose to have a child during our visa process. I have been on VJ for quite a while now though and have listened to some of the same questions that have come up and other's experiences with it.

Thanx everyone for taking the time to look at my post.

Didnt expect to cause so much comotion over it though so sorry about that.

As for the few that have negative thoughts about my fiancee getting pregnant it was purely a miracle that she got pregnant just like any pregnancy and i thank god for the blessing so sorry if anyone feels differant.

The reason i am concerned is that a visa once it is issued is only good for 6 months and the airlines wont allow a pregnant paasanger after they are 7 months and there is some concerns of flying a newborn baby until it reaches 6 months of age so i am worried we might lose the visa during this short window of oppertunity.

From the way i am seeing things progress on the timelines of most other cases it will be about 4 months before i get anything back from the uscis and then who knows how long it will be before the papers get forwarded to the embassy in manila.

I just talked to a person at my congressmans office and they informed me that they may be able to help with expediting the interview but thats after the approval comes from the uscis.

Hope someone can help me with this .

I just found out that my fiancee is pregnant and we didnt know this when i sent my papers to the service center for the k1 petition.

There is a couple things that i am needing help with and hope that someone can help me with some info.

1.Will this change anything about our case and will it cause us any delays in the process?

2.Being that she is far from me and i really want to be part of the delivery is it possible that we can get the petition expedited so that she can come to the u.s.a before the baby is due.

I am not very impressed with the quality of health care provided in the philippines and want to have her here with me so i can be sure she gets the best care available.

3.What is the timeline that a k1 visa process is from the philippines,i see so much conflicting information on the web and i am so confused about it all.

Oh by the way it is my child incase anyone is going to ask that. She is just now 7 weeks pregnant and i was there from 3/24/06 to 4/12/06

Ok, I've been in exactly the same boat as you, so I can give you some advice.

First and foremost, don't listen to the people here who will tell you that nothing

can be done for your case, that pregnancy is not a valid reason for getting your

case expedited. I made the mistake of listening to such people, and my fiancee

and I went through a lot of grief as a result.

Here's what you should do: write to your congressperson. Explain the situation,

and get your fiancee to send you proof of pregnancy to include with the letter.

Give them a week or two to get back to you, but, if you don't hear anything,

write them again and call them. Be persistent (and polite!).

My fiancee (USC) got in touch with her congressman. His immigration liason

called her back after a couple of weeks and told us that the USCIS WILL

expedite a case due to pregnancy. By that time, Nebraska had already approved

our petition and forwarded it to my local consulate in London, but the immigration

liason told us to get in touch with her again if London weren't going to give me

an interview date that would have me in the country in time for the birth.

When my case reached London, and they sent out my packet 3 forms, I filled

out the forms and returned them along with a letter explaining our circumstances

and requesting an immediate interview date. I also included proof of pregnancy.

London sent me packet 4 two days later, with an interview date three weeks

from then. If I hadn't have done that, chances are I wouldn't have had my

interview until the end of June/beginning of July (our baby's due July 22nd).

The bottom line is that, despite what the ill-informed masses on VisaJourney will

tell you, there are avenues of possibility that you can pursue, and your situation

isn't hopeless. Write your congressperson, get your fiancee to write her embassy

when the time comes, be persistent, and don't get discouraged when people here

tell you there's nothing that can be done - it's simply not true.

PM me if you have any questions. And good luck!

also, you came from the uk..and she is coming from a high fraud country the PI...so, your situation was much different

Congrats on the pregnancy, it truely "is" a blessing.

Here's a little information that I got, because I was in the situation about a month ago.

A few weeks after staying with my Fiance, we discovered she was pregnant. Of course it wasn't planned, but we both looked at it as a blessing as well. Some people try all they're lives to have kids, and can't, so who am I to say it was bad because of the timing. We felt fortunate.

After her first medical exam, she was told she was going to have many complications during the pregnancy due to her having an extremely small uterus. I also was concerned about the medical attention she would receive there knowing this, as she lives in the middle of the Pantanal in Brasil, and is far from any major city.

I called the USCIS and spoke to them about it. They said to "me" (as it could be different for someone else) that a normal pregnancy would not change the process at all. I also confirmed that by contacting the Consulate in Rio. Again, this is what "I" was told by the USCIS and the Consulate, someone else may have gotten different results, or answers.

Now, the USCIS told me that because her pregnancy was labeled as an extremely high risk, that I would more than likely qualify for expedited services under the "Extreme emergent situation" section of the expedited guidelines. I was told to have her get a signed letter from her Dr. explaining the circumstances of her pregnancy. I was to send this in with my I-129F.

Unfortunetly, a week later (April 15th) my Fiance lost the baby due to complications previously stated by her Dr.

Now, I know this is a different situation, but wanted to share my knowledge, and what I was told. I had not contacted my Congress person however, only the USCIS, and the Consulate in Rio de Janeiro.

Best of Luck to you both, and I hope you are united as quickly as possible.

it totally depends on the airline--they all have rules for women flying in their third term. i flew at 37 weeks pregnant with a doctors note (that was the airline's rule). funny fact, i had a note saying i had no signs of labor (which was true!) and then went into labor 4 hours after i flew home.

babies can usually fly around 1 week old. again, check with the individual airline. 6 months is just a joke.

My Beloved Joynelyn and I thought that she might have become pregnant during my stay in Cebu City, because she had missed her period in the middle of my visit. Thankfully a week after my visit she began her period again and so we figured it was just nerves that caused the change in her period. Why did I say thankfully? Because it was the last thing she needed was to be alone, waiting on the Visa process and expecting a baby. It is hard enough being alone and waiting.

Wish you luck.

Would depend on the airline. In the world of surrogacy pregnant women are flying all over the world and so are newborns. I think the OP might have a 1 month window where she can't fly.
