I may be wading into deeper waters than I realize, however I am going to 'bell the cat' and offer Nighthawk some 'advice' (please note the use of the noun here as a noun and not a verb) . . .

This is an immigration forum - Visa Journey. There is an off-topic thread, yes, because those of us on the visa journey do have lives outside of our immigration woes. We have opinions on what happens elsewhere, we have experiences, we have vents and rants, we have humour (note the correct spelling of humour, btw), we have insights to share - heck, we even have recipes to share - but what we all have in common are our journeys through the immigration process.

You said early on that you joined this site to offer us your 'services' to help us escalate our own visa journeys, and that is nice of you, if somewhat naive. You mentioned that you assisted your children and your wife with obtaining their own US citizenship and because of that you are qualified to help us . You, however, are also dismayed/annoyed/frustrated that it may be illegal for you to help others and that it is illegal for you to help your own family the way you did. Forgive me if I have misread what your wrote but that is how I interpreted it. (While this is a little bit of a ramble on my way to the 'advice' it is still relevant). It is very well known here that children born to a US parent, even if they are born outside of the US, have a claim to US citizenship and many here know you need to register their birth abroad with US officials then obtain proof of the American citizenship. There are a number of the members here who also have ensured their foreign born children their rights to US citizenship. The sponsorship you so proudly boast about of your Mexican born wife to the US as your spouse is what the majority of those here on this forum are going through, with manyof them, although not all, on their way to US citizenship.

Now for the advice part . . . You would find it of great benefit in trying to understand who the members of VJ are and what they do and do not know by reading these other forums - the immigration forums - on VisaJourney instead of just the Off Topic forums. Knowledge and information generally tend to go farther than arrogance and ignorance, however well-meaning. A good teacher takes the time to discover the level of knowledge of their students before starting to try and 'teach them', and a good performer makes sure he/she knows their audience before they start to lecture or entertain them.

As well, just for your information, it is not illegal for a family member to assist their family members to come to the states legally using the immigration processes, nor to take out US citizenship as allowed by US immigration legislation. In fact, it is necessary in family based immigration. It is what all of us here are doing which you would have realized if you had taken the time to read any of the other forums about which this site is concerned. Because there are others out there who prey on those who are feeling overwhelmed by the immigration process and because a great deal is at stake, US authorities enact legislation to protect these vulnerable people from becoming unwary prey to well-meaning or even foul-meaning individuals who may lead them to great grief - or worse - and then leave them in the lurch while they disappear with their money, their hopes and their dreams.

So, at the risk of repeating myself . . . please venture into the other forums for a while instead of just staying in Off-Topic. It will help you out immensely, although we will probably lose a source of entertainment.

I am Nighthawk

Straight and Married with children.

Welcome to VJ, Nighthawk!

Perhaps you'd care to tell us a little more about yourself? You are married, and that's great, but did you come over here on a family based visa? Just curious because I can't see why you'd choose VJ otherwise - as there are millions of forums out there to choose from.

How's your broken wrist, btw?

Oh hi there Mags. Thanks for dropping in..I see you know about my broken wrist. Thanks for asking. I have actually

cut off the stupid cast, but I still have a bit of stinging feeling.

About your inquiry as to my presence here at V/J, I am surprised that you have not read my introduction post on

the day that I came here...Please read it Mags.

I am not sure if I have mentioned the reason that I am here at this particular forum. You are right Mags, there are

many forums out there. In fact, I post on several of them, but of course on another name.

To answer your question about family based visa, you can find that information on the post I mentioned above. Since

this particular forum offers OFF TOPICS that does not necessarily deal with your question, I just decided to write here

also....If there is a problem or requisite that I must meet to write here. please inform Mags.

And thanks again for dropping in.

Actually I was just curious and hoped you could answer me directly, rather than telling me to read this and that post. I don't have time to read through old threads. :)

Oh O.k. Mags. Your response sounds logical. It would be hard indeed to dig up old threads to read...Based on your

position here at V/J, I will respect your request.

You see Mags, I personally arranged and filed countless immigration documents to get both my Son and my

Daughter into this country legally on green cards when they were 4 and 5 years old -- from Mexico-- where they

were born while I was living abroad....I am a proud citizen of this U.S. of A, Mags. I also arranged for my wife

to become a U.S. citizen. She was born in Mexico also.....They are all U.S. Citizens today.

In my registration post several (what, weeks ago?), I stated that my goal was to assist anyone who needed paper

work or any other forum of assistance with immigration issues....Mags.

But you know what, Mags???? Times have changed. When I approached an agency here at my location that deals

with immigration issues, I was stunned....In fact, I can be charged with a crime, if I prepare and file any document

that deals with immigration....You probably have heard of the infamous "notario" haven`t you? These scum bags

were charging folks seeking immigration assistance for filing papers when in fact they had no legal authority to do

so....So a law was passed here in my location, that shut me out....It is a crime to do what I did years ago for my

own family.....So in a nutshell, Mags, if you need further information as to why I am here and posting please

include any requisite that is required for a person like me to be a member and post here...

With all due respect Mags, I hope that this brief reply answers your question as to why I am here in the first place.

Now if there is any other problem, please let me know.

Nighthawk, thank you for filling me in on your background. As you are aware there is no criteria for joining VJ - any one can. I was just curious as to why someone who isn't involved in their own visa journey would want to join here. But, Nighthawk, as you've cleared up, you have indeed had to deal with USCIS, so your presence here is not out of the ordinary! :)

I will just let you know that giving advice on the forums when people ask questions is fine, Nighthawk, but should you decide to do so privately please be careful. The immigration laws change all the time so you may, inadvertently, give out incorrect information. We on VJ do not encourage immigration advice be given out via PM. ;)

If it is done in the forums then people can correct misinformation, Nighthawk.

Have fun!

Did anyone else notice the similarities from Mags post to Nighthawks? Hmmm.... Love it Mags, love it!

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
