A new documentary series coming to cable this July presented by CNN.

CNN Presents: Black in America continues with "The Black Woman & Family." Soledad O'Brien explores the varied experiences of black women and families and investigates the reasons behind the disturbing statistics on single parenthood, disparities between black and white students in schools and the devastating toll of HIV/AIDS. O'Brien reports on the progress of black women in the workplace and the status of the black middle class. Premieres in HDTV on Wednesday, July 23, 9 p.m. ET

In the "The Black Man," Soledad O'Brien evaluates the state of black men in America and explores the controversial topics of black men and fatherhood; disparities between blacks and whites in educational, career and financial achievement; and factors leading to the dramatic rates of black male incarceration. The documentary also examines the achievements of black men and the importance of the positive influences of black fathers. Premieres in HDTV on Thursday, July 24, 9 p.m. ET

In this first installment of CNN's Black in America series, Soledad O'Brien investigates how James Earl Ray, an armed robber and escaped convict, had already spent an uncommon year on the run just a month before his path collided with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Memphis, Tennessee. Check for rebroadcasts

****My personal opinion is this looks REALLY interesting. It think its always good to be able to view life experiences of other cultures and gain a better understanding of them. From my personal experiences...I find Black people in America to be one of the MOST misunderstood group of people out there. And we are misunderstood the most...by our fellow Americans. How odd is that? Sometimes made to feel as if we are not TRULY American. What else would we call ourselves if not American? What else would our heritage and culture be if not American? There was a statement by the reporter on the video feed on CNN, where she states "this is not a documentary about Blacks...but a documentary about Americans. And its a story that EVERY American can relate too."

Big up to CNN for putting this out!!

Hi, Thanks, Marlita and Uno for keeping us informed. I definitely plan on viewing. Sometimes our people need to face the cold, hard, facts concerning our state in the great ole' U.S. of A. Again, thanks!

That is racist and discriminatory, what about being Brown or Yellow or Red or White, why Black only? amazing.

 I imagine a show about "People in America" probably wouldn't be very illuminating...

Lets all pretend that all things and all people are equivalent and equal, and that everyone's experience is the same - whether they be black, white, green, homeless or Donald Trump.

I imagine some sort of montage with stirring patriotic music, drum rolls and long slow motion cuts of the American flag flying in the wind.

Yep, that would be about the way it would go...

Or they could save the money and just show the last 5 minutes of the first Delta Force movie with Chuck Norris, complete with rescued American hostages fist-pumping and singing "America! America!"

Well since I know this is just a trolling comment I wont take it too serious. But even as a trolling comment it makes no sense. What is racist about CNN doing a documentary about a certain group of Americans?

I'll pass! I'm Black so I don't need a lesson on what I already experience...

Cheer!!!

I dont think this is a "lesson" just a documentary.
