AOS approval after 4 years and 2 months!

Yay!

When we got home today we have a letter from the NSC:

Notice date: May 29, 2008

Notice Type: welcome notice

In the text section it said:

"Your application for pr status is being processed. If approved, a permanent resident card will be mailed directly to you from our Immigration Card Facility. If you do not hear from us within 30 days..."

I wasn't sure what this meant and the receipt number was different than the other one that I had. I had inputted the old one in the USCIS case status section but it hadn't been touched or changed since our address change in July 2007.

I inputed the new receipt date. It starts with LIN rather than WAC like the old one.

Application Type: I181, CREATION OF RECORD OF LAWFUL PERMANENT RESIDENCE

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On June 6, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I181 CREATION OF RECORD OF LAWFUL PERMANENT RESIDENCE. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

Now we just have to wait for it to come. 4 years and 2 months... I sure hope we get the 10 yr card.

7/03--Interview in Ciudad Juarez

2/15/04--Married

4/2/04--AOS submitted

8/23/04--Interview in Chula Vista, CA (approved pending name check)

5 EADs, 3 APs, multiple Senators' inquiries and infopass appts, 2 AOS biometrics,

and one move to Seattle later...

3/3/08--AOS Biometrics renewal in Seattle

6/9/08--10 year green card arrived in the mail. My husband is no longer in immigration limbo and is a realio, trulio permanent resident! It says he's been a resident since 04/17/2008.

1/17/11--Apply for Citizenship

does anyone know why we would have a different receipt notice for the case? from WAC to LIN?

Im sorry I cant answer that. Was it transferred? We also have been waiting 4years. Im so happy for you and yours. Im sure this has been a very stressful journey for you both and maybe you both can now exhale and begin to really live your lives.

K-1 journey, AOS/EAD and ROC in my timeline

2011 March 31 - Sent off Naturalization pkg overnight to Texas

2011 April 1 - Arrived in Texas at 10:21 am

2011 April 1 - NOA (rec'd via snail mail April 8)

2011 April 7 - Cheque cashed

2011 May 5 - Biometrics (letter rec'd via snail mail April 15)

2011 May 9 - Placed in line for interview scheduling

2011 June 13 - Rec'd yellow letter (no change in status online)

2011 June 23 - Rec'd text that my case has been scheduled for interview

2011 August 1 - Interview (rec'd via snail mail June 27) PASSED

2011 August 3 - Rec'd email that my case has been scheduled for Oath

2011 September 1 - Oath ceremony (rec'd snail mail Aug 5)

2011 September 1 - All done, yeah.

Thanks everyone for the congratulations. I think I figured out the WAC to LIN thing. We initially filed in San Diego and the case was sent to the CSC (WAC). When we moved to Seattle I guess they switched it to the Nebraska Service center (LIN).

I hope they still understand that it's a 4 year old case.

I'm sorry Barb that you're still waiting. Have you been told anything at infopass appts? I think our combination of infopass appts and having a good person to talk to at our Senator's office helped. Even though the name check memo was written in February, I think that they have to do an extra review when cases have been pending for so long, like many of us on visajourney who got trapped in the name check.

10 year card arrived today, so it looks like they're considering the length of the background check in granting the card.
