I hope the new forum will help give a place for issues on adjusting status from non-family visa types and other specific issues. From my understanding from other members we have gotten quite a few questions that would have benefited from this new forum so hopefully this will help out. Your feedback is welcome :).

Thank you sooo much. Hopefully it will cut down on the misinformation and nasty comments from people who don't understand the scenario, as well!

ETA: Though I do agree on a certain level with RJ and LaL, over the last almost 2 years the situation in the AOS forums never gets better concerning the other visa types; there is always rudeness and nastiness towards those taking this path, and I'm to the point where I feel that the separation is better than educating the masses, because the masses just don't give a #######. Vilifying those of us who had the option available to us makes them feel better about their wait times, so thats what they do.

That's a different moderation function. The 'abuse' should never occur. But there arent' enough mods to police the place.

I can't get over how people think the way to handle bad behavior is to send everybody to their own room (ie segregate information) rather than moderate the community by locking down posters with a hate agenda.

The K1 subforum and the monthly filer threads completely derails your own data collection process and you don't even deal with that.

I understand your point and it is well taken. I hope everyone uses the timelines to track their details so there is an easy way for people to share their information and it is not lost. The monthly filer threads as you call them have been described to me from other members as a "fun way to track their case and meet new people". I understand that there are other places that they can post on the site (like you say) however I would not want to be the person to take away any avenue that they have to help them get through the tough and emotional immigration path. If these threads add a fun and enjoyable place for people to post then I see more upside than down.

But it does occur, and I got tired of being told my husband was criminal and should be deported a long time ago.

This site isn't my life. If the subforum makes it tolerable to help people again, I'll take it.

It's a shame to me that this is the best resolution we can get to situations such as yours.

It is sad to me, as well. I used to think with education people would realize that adjusting from alternative visas is completely legal (as long as there was no intent) and that the namecalling and bitterness was unnecessary ... however, the maturity level on VJ isn't very high these days. It would have been nice if there were enough mods to shut that kind of thing down, but it largely went (and still goes, I'm sure) unnoticed or unmentioned. As CMarsh once told me, you can only fight the VWP/B-2 battle for so long until you tire of it, and with people spreading misinformation around as they do, it's easy for me to see why she said that now.

I think it's a good idea to have the subforum. I can't count how many times someone posts a question in the AOS forum, and people only come back to ask and ask how did you get here, different visa stuff, overstays on tourist visa's, etc. So now the 2 being separated out can reduce all the back & forth questions, and people can actually get the answers they seek.

Good idea! :star:

I am (taking owenership as you said) however I always want to give an opportunity for other ideas to have a fair shake. I am not opposed to trying something first before calling it a failure. If the new forum does not work that is ok, however if it helps an audience that was not able to post before and just read the site without finding help then that is good.

On a side note, here is a list of some notes for non marriage based AOS:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;page=otheraos

Other than a broken link does anyone spot any updates that could be made?

Whatever.

I haven't seen you change back anything once you've created it. No matter what havoc it wreaks. The K1 subforum and the monthly filer threads completely derails your own data collection process and you don't even deal with that. And you might as well shut down the Embassy Forum. Nobody goes there to learn anything anymore. They'd rather hang out in their own little Regional Forum.

Wow, you're antagonistic.

This sounds like a good idea for a subforum to me, had it existed when I joined, I would have gone there first. As it is I lurked here for some time before saying anything, largely due to some attitudes I have seen on some topics, and even still I haven't talked at all about what visa I entered the country on or anything related to it. Personally I am just looking to touch base with other people going through a similar situation, not to spark some kind of flame war over the circumstances leading up to my adjustment of status.
