We're approved! Just checked our status at USCIS and it says card production ordered. Yes!

Here's what we wrote in our Local US CIS Office Review: San Jose CA

We had our interview today, 23 May 2008. Just a quick bit of advice: No food or drinks allowed as well as no cell phones or electronic devices (laptops, PDA, cameras, etc.) This will save you a trip back to the car which a lot of people were doing (including us). There were two guards at the front checking in people to get into the building. Only those with appointment letters can get in - no drop in appointments. The first guard was nice; the other was quite short tempered with some of the people in line. He was especially short tempered to those who did not understand English very well. After passing through the metal detector, we were a bit confused as to where to go. There were people sitting in chairs and a line for those who used Infopass. The nice guard asked if we were going for AOS and directed us to the hallway on the right. Another guard in the hallway was there and asked for the appointment letter. He checked our letter and our IDs and then instructed us to go upstairs to room 200 and put our letter in a box in the window.

The room was empty except for rows of chairs and the window where we were to put our appointment letter. There was one other couple in front of us. A short time later, a couple emerged from a door next to the appointment window. They seemed happy and smiled as they went out.

Finally, our turn came next. The gentleman called out my wife's full name. We went into a office where he had us swear in and held onto our IDs. Looking at our papers, he began to ask my wife some questions. He asked our current address, her birthdate, phone number, place of birth, working status, relatives in the states, criminal records, been to USA before, and if she had any children. He asked for pictures of us together and made some nice comments about them. My wife has a twin sister who is here in the states. Jokingly, he asked if I knew that it was my wife I am applying for. I told him yes because my wife has a beauty mark that her sister does not have. Hahaha. We all laughed and that seemed to lighten the mood. Then, he asked me about wedding location, my occupation, current paystubs, employment letter, and tax records.

Overall the interview was quite painless. Being overly prepared is always better; we brought more than what he asked for. He said congratulations and told us about the card production time. Also, he told us about the lifting of conditions and time table. He made a copy of our IDs.

The overall interview took probably 15 to 20 minutes. He asked if we had any questions. I asked if we were approved and he said not yet; even though he told us congratulations. USCIS will send a notice and then began card production. So, I guess that is good news!

p.s. We just checked our status on the USCIS website and it says our card production has been ordered!
