For those of you missing a bit of the old country, we have a opportunity this month for a unique European experience. Europe is conducting their annual song contest and it will be live on the internet. Called Eurovision 2008, the live TV broadcast will be available on the internet this year.

This is a truly great experience loaded with talented people. The contest this year features 43 different performers, each representing their own country. I was lucky enough to attend this contest three years ago in Kiev, Ukraine and it was an unforgettable experience.

It has two semi-final contests, one on May 20th and the second on May 22nd. The final is on May 24th. Each broadcast begins at 9:00 PM (21:00) Central European Time. That translates to 3:00 PM on the east coast and 12:00 noon out here on the west coast.

This beats the heck out of American Idol and it's just too bad we can't get a live TV broadcast. But, at my house we're excited about the web cast. You can check out the competitors now at the link I'm including. I hope you enjoy it.

god I love eurovision because it's so freaking funny!

I'm rather a fan of the predictable voting. Never are political unions laid out so clearly.

Oh gosh I remember the times when my parents allowed us kids to stay up late to see the whole show. But then they send us to bed for the voting and told us the next day who won. When we were a little older we were allowed to stay up for the whole thing including the voting and geez..the first year I watched it I thought it was so boring and the years after that I thought it was hilarious.

Allemagne- douze points. Deutschland- zwoelf Punkte. Germany- twelve points.

Gotta love it.

I think it must be at least 30 years since the last time that Germany got 12 points

:bonk:

But Marquess didnt make it. They were only the finals for the candidate being sent to the Eurovision for Germany. Plus the singer is actually Italian and not German.

But I am glad you enjoyed watching it. You freak.

Oh God I just accidentally clicked on the video. Now I have a Marquess trauma. :dead:

I watched a few vids and I found Ireland the most hilarious :P

Ireland at one time won five years in a row (or five times in six years, something ridiculous, anyway) and then quickly realised that as the winner hosts the next contest (does that still happen?), it was getting to be a rather expensive venture for them.

The next time they entered their entry was awful! ;)
