even though his IQ is actually a couple of points higher than mine.

how do you know that? Do you always have your boyfriends having their IQ checked to see if they're worthy?

Dont feel bad its okay, your Fiance is so excited to hug you, there is some reason why his Visa havent yet arrived BUT Love is all that matters!!..

BE THANKFUL THOUGH.

GOODLUCK!

His interview was April 28th. About a week before this, he decided he would go book his ticket for May 7th, about which I had grave reservations.

Naturally, something had to go wrong. Apparently, he received the wrong police certificate (?) for the interview and had to get another. The courier was supposed to deliver the new certificate to the embassy on May 2nd. For whatever reason and also owing to a bank holiday on the 5th, the courier did not actually get the certificate to the embassy until May 6th. Of course, at this point, fiance had to rebook his ticket, which he did for the 14th.

His last day of work is today. It's now after 2:30pm his time and the courier from the embassy has not yet arrived. Fiance is currently staying with a friend because he had to move out of his previous residence when his lease (or whatever the British equivalent is) was up. If he doesn't receive his visa by Tuesday, he'll have to rebook AGAIN at ridiculous expense to him. Furthermore, he's concerned that he's overstaying his welcome at his friend's place and if he doesn't receive his visa on time, he's insisting that he's going to book tickets to go stay with his parents in Northern Ireland so he's no longer imposing on his friend, which will necessitate more needless expense both for the ticket and the additional cost the courier is going to tack on for having to travel to NI.

I am ready to scream. WHY did he book his ticket in the first place?!?!

I just suddenly feel like I'm marrying a ####ing moron, even though his IQ is actually a couple of points higher than mine. How much foresight does it take to not book your ticket until your visa is in-hand? I swear I want to slap him. He's not made of money, but he's potentially going to go through hundreds of pounds of needless expense all because he didn't think before he booked his ticket and also because he's too ####ing proud to "overstay his welcome."

AAARRRRRGHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Naturally, something had to go wrong. Apparently, he received the wrong police certificate (?) for the interview and had to get another.

I'm assuming he's from the North?.. I too almost had the same stupid problem, I lived right on the border. Per the instructions in the K1 packet they wanted a UK Police Certificate from London, which is exactly what I gave them in the end. My first thought was get the Certificate from Belfast, which I did but apparently they didn't want that one at the Embassy, just the British (UK?) certificate? Even though I've never lived in Britain. As it turns out I found that the British Police all share the same information in the same central database in London but the North of Ireland has it's very own stupid database! :bonk: and only send certain information to Britain e.g murders etc not theft (which can get you denied!) Therefore it's hardly a UK police certificate if it doesn't include the entirety of the UK e.g. N Ireland along with Britain and all the information stored!

I think there's a loophole there and confusion with terms such as UK & Britain and the request to get the Certificate from London. The system needs to be fixed so people in the North can use a certificate from Belfast. I'd be really nice if they'd centralize it all into the Dublin Embassy for the Island of Ireland as it's done for the Island of Britain and avoid the need to fly to London for an interview (unless already resident in Britain) or Scotland just have a medical. It'd also knock on the head the other issue of the border in Ireland, what happens if I'm an axe murder or a big time car thief in Ireland (North or South) and a saint (on paper) to the British police? :hehe: It's stupid when you think about it and if I've thought it's stupid for over two years now how long have the people at the Embassy in London knew about it?

Men are morons!!!!!!

Yeah but we are loving morons!

True story.

I hope for him that his welcome present won't be a future wife b#itching at him the second he has sat his foot on US-soil. Jeez....

 I agree. Lighten up on the poor guy.

In sum, costs add up quickly when marrying a foreigner.

Yeah. Apfelrotkohl costs like $4.50 a jar!!

And I can't even find Kaba here. Thankfully, we have a stockpile going :)

I have a similar situation, but the opposite. We also got caught up with the new police certificate issue, and we're still waiting for the visa. But instead of buying his ticket (or giving me any possible date of his arrival) he's waiting. Still driving me crazy, but he's trying to pay off all his debt so we can start off with a clean financial slate. What can I say? I'm definitely marrying someone who has a boatload of common sense (which is good, since I am the romantic one...I want him here NOW!!!)...

I'm glad Mags didn't post on a message board somewhere that I am a moron.... I wouldn't have taken it well.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Agreed, money comes and goes. Memories of silly things you once did are forever :luv:
