I have tried hard to get rid of my southern accent....but Joel seems to like it, so maybe I won't work so hard to change it :luv:

I'm glad to hear such positive comments about the South as I'll be making my home there - southISH I guess, NC..

The only place I spent time before was SoCal, right on the beach at Venice, which i did love - tho living right on top of LA was good in many ways, it was also very dirty.

The people that I met (big Brit expat community in Santa Monica if you're every down that way) were all really nice tho.

I'm happy to hear so many of you think the South is such a nice place to live

Ain't no secret: There's just nothing quite like the South. I lived there for about a decade and I can't wait to make my way back down there. There's just something very attractive about the South.

Yah they're called trees... I hear there's not many left up North

Maine, baby.....

70,000 forested acres, according to the propaganda.... I mean tourism booklet.

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.

You'll love it. There's no way one wouldn't like the South. It's really nice.

I also love VA, been there on many an occasion and I find it so beautiful I do love it there.

It is absolutely beautiful here in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia.

And I do so love my Southern redneck hubby. Seems to me that Southern men know how to treat a woman and take care of her as she needs to be. ;) Quite NOT what I was accustomed to in Canada.

Then again, I'm not quite what he was accustomed to either hehehe. Not that he minds any. :D

Hi Jaylen, I'm in NC and I can tell you it has its positive side as well as drawbacks just like anywhere, but since your thinking of coming this way I will tell you positive...he he.. I am from the Charlotte area and its really nice coz your just a few hours from the beach and just a few hours from the mountains, lots of history and really neat things to do, ie; Biltmore Estates (my MIL from Ireland loved it) Old Salem, were also close to Charleston SC (2 1/2 hrs) in which I feel is one of the most beautiful towns in the US. I tend to hear people say that our unemployment is high, but to be honest, if you cant find a job here its due to laziness in my opinion, I have lived here for 20+ years and nobody in my family has had issues finding work. If your coming to NC let me just say WELCOME and I really hope you enjoy it.

Sherry :)

 Aww thanks!

I'm gonna be in a small town called Lenoir (kinda just outside it actually) and it'll be a BIG change from where I live now which is just outside my nation's capital! :D

(That's London btw  )

I *am* looking forward to less noise and traffic, and huge crowds - which at times is rather wearing - the main downside for me - until I can drive - is lack of public transport - oh and the 'local' mall is a bit smaller than Im used to but once I learn to drive Im sure that will give me a longer range :)

The scenery there tho is wonderful, so MANY trees and open spaces which is great and some breautiful mountians not too far away with breathtaking views and trails :)

You'll have much less rain, clouds and fog, too. If London is as damp and foggy as I imagine... :P
