isolated life - no common friends - no sworn affidavits

Hi,

Well, settled into life and then you realize that it's immigration time again. My greencard is due to expire in just a little over 3 months and I'm getting all the paperwork and proof stuff together, then I read the "sworn affidavit from friends" part and my world comes crushing down!

I/ We dont have friends!

It probably sounds insane, but we dont!

He works night, I work days.

Our jobs are total opposites, our interests are opposites, and we've been so busy working and stuff that when our life crosses over, we are home!

When I get off work he already left, and once home, I have an 11 yr old son and 9 month old daughter, not really got time to socialize. And when I do have days off work, I go out to eat with my MIL or go to the park and library with the kids, not out with friends partying.... so now what?

Can I get a written letter from a work friend, whom knows my husband from taking messages for me, etc?

I'm at a loss.....

Thanks for any advice,

Sheridan

I never included any affidavits with my evidence..... the list is only a sugestion not "must-haves".... we were approved and now have the 10 year greencard... so do not worry just make sure you send plenty of other joint evidence.....

Good Luck

I would not worry about affidavits. We did not send in any and we got approved. You have a daughter together and that should be more than enough evidence. (we do not have any kids). If you have a lease/mortgage papers showing that you live together and bank statements showing intermingling of finances, you should be fine. Good luck with your immigration journey.

OP,

If you want to include affidavit & you are more comfortable if you include this in your package, you can ask your MIL to get one done for you. I asked both my MIL & FIL (they are divorced).

Hello Sheridan,

Like the others have said it is not necessary but you can have the inlaws write something for you if you wish. Been a long time since you posted and see your staying busy with the kids. Good luck.

Well there's your key.

If you have a 9 month old daughter together, that alone is fairly good evidence, better than many couples have. It's even better evidence if you can show that your husband is playing the role of father. Did dad go to prenatal appointments, birthing classes, or the birth itself? Can someone vouch for that fact? Has anyone seen him do other fatherly things with the baby?

Affidavits aren't explicitly necessary. What's needed is that you show the marriage wasn't for the purpose of gaining an immigration benefit. Give them the evidence you DO have that tends to demonstrate this.
