Neat! That's some nice looking coinage.

The only thing I think could improve it - is one of those little motion spots that I've seen on coins from Syria. ( how they did it ... I have NO idea ... it's right in the metal ... it's ... weird ... and cool! )

Ahh! I just noticed that there - part of a big picture - reminds me of the commemorative stamp sheets you see - I love those!

It's settled - I must get my hands on a set. :D

( This coming from an Arab who married an Arab from overseas... go figure. )

Wales isn't on the coat of arms they used for those coins.

Psh. Psh, I tell thee.

What's the one on the 2p?

It is not surprising then that Matthew Dent chose the Royal Arms, and in particular the shield of the Royal Arms, as the theme for his innovative range of new designs. The Royal Arms is divided into four parts: England being represented by the three lions passant guardant in the first and fourth quarters, the Scottish lion rampant in the second and the harp of Ireland in the third, with all four quarters spread over the six coins from the 1p to the 50p. Completing the new range of coins is the £1 coin featuring the shield of the Royal Arms in its entirety, uniting the six fragmented elements into one design.

It's the Royal Arms, which doesn't feature Wales, basically. And the guy is from Bangor, too! For shame, boyo.

Oooh those are cool. Are those just like collectable sort of limited things or are they going into regular circulation? Neat.

You know I kind of really like the heavy pound and two pound coins (for some reason 2 pounds coins are exciting xD) but the charm has worn off...Do all you Brits have this same problem? Iain has NO POCKETS. Like...he has pockets when he first buys his trousers. And then a week later they're ALL gone. Because he carries around an ever-accumulating amount of change and all of your money's so heavy it just piles right through it.

And then he starts keeping coins in his back pocket and then THOSE go and oh seriously. Not practical.

Summer 2001 - met my Scottish boy

December 18th, 2007 - proposal in Madrid's Botanical Gardens with a duck standing behind him going 'food?'

January 18th, 2008 - I-129F sent to VSC

January 31st, 2008 - received NOA1, issued Jan. 24 :)

February 24th, 2008 - NOA2; omgwtfbbqlolz

February 29th, 2008 - NVC letter sent

Well they can't change the royal coat of arms just for the coins and I think you'll find the reason it is not on the royal coat of arms is because Wales is a principality therefor has a different coat of arms.

Those new coins are really cool! Love 'em!

I love the quarters over here in the US that have the different states on them. That's a really good idea too.

Yeah - they look pretty cool :D

I collect those quarters ;) I have a fair few already but it would be nice to get ones that are freshly minted :)

Tash!! OMG - we so need to get together - we can play swapsies

Jeremy said I could just go into a bank and get whole rolls of them but I told him that was no fun... besides - you have to compare the new one you get to see which is the shiniest

I send them to Kevin everytime a new one comes out. I got him a folder once with a slot for each one so he can save them.

We also just started the gold dollar coins (about a year ago) with the president's faces on them. I think there are 3 or 4 so far.
