I say we potty train them as soon as they come out of the womb. ;)

Diana

:P I remember in my psych 101 class...child development....their neurological development is not formed enough for them to be potty trained until about the age of 2 1/2. It's also one of the reasons why we have no memory of our childhood before the age of about 3.

there are several babies that I used to take care of in Thailand around the age of 1.5-2 can tell me when they need to go.. and I'd take them to the bathroom and they would just use the little toilet in there. One time.. one of the boy told me he needed to pee (he point to his weewee) and I said no, he did not need to go coz he just went.. he just peeed right there infront of me.. he's darn smart.. his parents are doctors.

:D Maybe he'll grow up to be a urologist.

We're using disposable. Way more convenient.

I don't see which is less damaging to the environment. With disposables you have to manufacture them, transport them to Costco, then landfill them. With cloth you have to use water, energy, and detergent to clean and dry them.

With the landfill issue, Penn & Teller took care of that one for me with their program on Showtime.

As for plastic in disposables, I believe in the US you can't get disposables with plastic since it doesn't break down easily. First thing I noticed when we were in Morocco and we had to buy diapers was the plastic in them.

The rest are just a load of #######.

Cloth is the answer! Although disposable diapers are convenient for the parents, I still think cloth is better for the babies.

IF you use all in one cloth diapers, they just work like disposables. You are just as fast with them as you would be with any other diaper.

We plan on using a combination. If you use cloth it's not that easy to use it when you're out and about (as far as storage-- you can cart around a dirty diaper, it's just up to you)... which means disposables are better for travel/shopping/etc. We were looking at these:

With Adam I used to put him in a sposie when we were out in the park or on walks, playgroups etc. when he was little cause it was hard to tell when he would poop and then I didn't want to tote 5 dirty diapers with me.

Now, that he is a year old, we're using one sposie overnight and the rest only cloth. I bought a wetbag that has a waterproof lining from the inside and so I carry pee and poopdiapers with me whenever we have accidents. I works good and I wash every three days (I'm not using All in ones but regular prefolds with covers).

That's basically what we were thinking about doing. It's obviously possible to do cloth 100% of the time, but it just would be so much easier to do disposables on those times you/I mentioned.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I vote for litter boxes for infants

Because babies are human litter? :innocent:

I vote for litter boxes for infants

If cats can use them, why can't infants? Good point, Miss Amber!

Because cats, unlike infants, are actually smart?
