Wow. This stimulus thing is really stupid. What's it going to get us, groceries for a month? Probably not even.

I'm sending my kids to summer camp with my stimulus. Money that I would have had to find some other way, but now I have magic money to pay for it! Yay!

You will get a paper check, if you have not requested for direct deposit when you filed your 2007 return.

If you shop at Whole Foods, it won't even get you groceries for a day. :crying:

Yeah, we spend about 30 dollars a day (sometimes each) and we mostly shop at D'Agostino's and West Side Market (probably a west side thing, heh). Yesterday I bought two bottles of Poland Spring bubbly water, a Diet Dr. Pepper, 2 sugar free Red Bulls, a jar of pickles and a magazine. 30 effing dollars! It's like no matter what you buy, it comes out to 30 dollars.

LOL - it's the same thing with Whole Foods - no matter what I buy, the bill is always $100 or more.

A couple of salads, some cheese, fresh fruit and two boxes of sushi to go? $100

Effin' ridiculous.

If your other half doesn't have a SS# and your filing an ITIN; therefore, not getting a stimulus payment.

Don't sweat you'll just have to wait a bit longer to get your free money.

http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=179211,00.html

Can you use an ITIN instead of an SSN? Taxpayers with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) instead of an SSN are not eligible to receive a stimulus payment. Both people listed on a "married filing jointly" return must have valid SSNs to qualify for the payment — if only one has a valid SSN, neither can receive the payment.

Not eligible at the current time? If your circumstances change and you become eligible after you file your 2007 federal tax return, you can always file an amended return using Form 1040X. File the form after April 14, 2008, and allow 8-12 weeks of processing time before making any inquiries about your payment.

Woot - I'll get mine about 2 weeks before I leave for Nepal(and 2 days after my birthday :D ) - it will work out to about 39,000 Nepalese rupees... It we do the ABC trek like we are thinking it will pay about half our expenses.

So much for helping the US economy...

If i filed using Ahmed this year, i wont get one,(right?) because hes still in Morocco :crying:

If you filed jointly and opted to treat him as a resident alien for tax purposes (better option in many cases anyways), then you should be getting it. As I understand it, only non-resident alient filers or joint filers with a non-resident alien won't be eligible.

May 2nd. Gonna need the money....I'm sending Mags back to England.

That sounds wrong.

Well, if one files jointly and his/her spouse does not have a valid SSN, he/she does not get any stimulus payment.

How do you know if your SSN is valid? I got one with my K1 visa. We got married on Jan 2008 and we filed income tax as married. I'm not working yet but I have my EAD.

LOL the government is just gonna get my stimulus payment right back... I'm planning on using that for all my Immigration-USCIS related costs
