Update:

Joshua will be staying in the hospital for at least 2 or 3 more days...until they think he is doing better. I had a bit of a clash with the NICU nurse today when I asked her if Jinky can come to feed Joshua every two hours if he'll nurse after she told me that he is not getting enough fluids. She first said that we need to put him on a schedule (every 3 hours) or Jinky's life would be miserable. Everything I've learned about breastfeeding is that breastfed babies don't need to be on any rigid schedule...for one the milk digests much quicker and the baby will form it's own schedule. She offered to let me talk to the Pediatrician who was there...and thankfully the doctor was agreeable to allowing Jinky to feed the baby as often as she wishes.

I really had to hold my temper...the whole situation of having him in the ICU is understandable, but they are not very supportive, let alone encouraging the mother to spend time with the baby. Also we seem to get conflicting stories - Jinky was excited because she was told this morning that they may let Joshua stay with her in her room tonight, but the nurse I spoke with said he'll be staying in NICU until he is released from the hospital, but they are considering releasing Jinky while keeping him longer. The whole thing stinks to high heaven! Why on earth would they want to do anything to keep the mother from being with the baby as much as possible.

Sorry about your experience there!!! I'm a RN student who just finished an OB rotation! its not unusual to send the mom home when she is fine and keep the baby at the hospital! WHY?? all comes down to $$$$$$$$$$$$ Insurance companies dont like to pay more than they have to. And if a couple has no insurance, thus the hospital may be footing a lot of the bill, again they want the mom out to save $$$$$$$$$. You think hospitals are hre to make ya better?? nope to make $$$$,lol Best of luck and congratulations

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Any new update?

Hi Stina,

I just got off the phone with the nurse who is taking care of him in NICU. They drew blood this morning and his bilirubin count has gone down, but it's still too high (13.3). :( Even if it goes down to normal, they'll keep him a little longer for observation without phototherapy to make sure the number doesn't jump back up. It's really been difficult for Jinky but on the good side, he is gaining weight and we've been making several trips throughout the day and at night for her to nurse him. He looks so cute now...his hair is curly and long. The nurses call him, Wild Bill.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Thanks, brother. I just keep telling myself that he's in good hands and they want to make sure he's going to be okay before they let him go home...but I sure miss him. Poor Job cannot even visit his brother during the weekdays (hospital rules). :(

that is sad for Job and all of you.. m y son, for just a day was feared to be and RH baby..his mother was a RH factor ...and it broke my heart to see him in the hospital after we were all home.....

I know the folks at the hospital, are doing there best so, Joshua will be strong and kicking his old man out of bed 3 times a night (lol) and i know, you await that day to brother...dean
