First off, I want to congratulate you on the birth of your adorable baby boy Joshua!!

You've been given some really good feedback from members here on the breastfeeding issue Steven! I know you're excited, and anxious for Jinky to be breastfeeding, but agreed...Jinky can pump right now..which she should be, and that the number one priority is Joshua and that he continues to grown healthy before coming home.

My children were born in an era where they were kept in the nursery except for feeding, and this was to give "Mom" a rest. While it's all good that Jinky wants to breast feed, there are a LOT of women who can't! They DO bond with their children.

I know you're really upset right now...but if I can put in my .2 cents worth in....don't be too upset or irritable around Jinky. Any added stress or irritability will hurt her breast milk development. Hormones are crazy right now! Yours are too... ;)

Thanks for sharing your lovely pictures of your special son!

Steven,

Sorry you had an upsetting experience with a nurse in NICU. I didn't have great experiences with 2 pediatric nurses during my stay too. The OB nurses were all great though, and one pedi nurse was nice too. I think sometimes, even if what they say is true, it can be the way they say it that can rub you the wrong way. I don't know if they are just desensitized from being in that environment every day, having a baby in NICU is a stressful experience for the parents.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Hi Everyone,

Update:

Momma was discharged from the hospital yesterday afternoon, but Joshua is still in the NICU - his bilirubin count is higher than usual for jaundiced babies. Poor Jinky cried over leaving him behind. We came back last night to nurse him and left an extra bottle of milk and I've been bringing bottles of milk to him through the night. I spent the prior night in the hospital, helping Jinky to get over to feed him every 2-3 hours. He finally had a soiled diaper after about 10 hours of dry diapers...we were so relieved about that. We're supplementing his nursing with formula until his mother's milk increases. He had a CT scan to make sure none of the fluid or blood from his scalp injury was any deeper than just under his skin. They'll check is bilirubin count this morning and hopefully if it is down after receiving phototherapy, we can bring him home.

I hope all is well with everyone. Here's a couple of more photos. Apparently he's turned his experience in the NICU into resort style living as I caught him using a tanning lamp. In the other picture, he looks so much like his Kuya Job.
