I received DS-230 Checklist( 3 pages) form NVC yesterday

1st page is letter (telling case number benificiary's name, category and priority date)

2nd page is barcode(need to send back with checklist.....attention to DR inplace of CMR)

3rd page is saying that missing Ds-230 (only 3 line says missing DS-230)

I have filed for my parents and that have BMB case number ( bombay consulate, india)

my question is what i need to send with this checklist? because in this package NVC doesn't say anything about what to send back with this package.

Please help....

You need to go to the DOS link http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3176.html

Search for your embassy and see what documents you need to send the NVC along with the DS-230 coversheets.

I just want to clarify - a certified copy is ok, but they are not talking about a 'photocopy' they want the original that you get from the Government issuing office.

Anyway, that list looks to be complete. Just remember to send the original + 1 photocopy of each document

Also, it's great if you fill in your timeline here on VJ, it helps us to help you!

You need to send the original - yes, they do lose them from time to time and sometimes they neglect to give you back the original at the interview - doesn't matter - you still need to send the original.

Since you mention it is difficult for you to get some documents - you should go about getting another original right away, for your own copy - then you don't need to worry about it.

Police Records

Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office. These are usually more dependable than those obtained at a local level and indicate that the subject had no serious criminal convictions on record at the time of passport issuance. Applicants whose Indian passport was issued within the past six months may present just the Passport Office Police Certificate, and need not obtain additional police clearances.

Applicants over age 16, whose passports were issued more than six months previous to visa application, must also obtain a police clearance from the District Police Office serving the applicant's place of residence.

Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.

Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.

Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India. link

NVC forwards your documents to the consulate/embassy so they are there at the interview. They should not ask you for originals again at the interview.

Technically they are supposed to return the originals to the applicant at the interview - but that doesn't always happen. My Husband had his interview in Montreal on Feb 19th, they did not return our marriage certificate or my divorce certificate. They said they would send them with the visa - they didn't.

I also know that Mononoke28's Husband didn't get any of the originals back at his interview either.

Your best bet is to not expect to get them back, then if you do it's a bonus

for the standard processing does nvc still receive the original documents and then forward to embassy? there are 2 standard processing embassy's in india and 2 apptointment now and if I am not mistaken they are different it how they receive the documents. This part of the NVC process applies to IR1/CR1 visas only - not K visas

I wanted to add to what I said below, it should have read: NVC does not receive the documents for Standard processing posts. They just request a copy of the biographic page of the passport and part 1 of the DS-230 I believe. Not many posts are standard anymore.
