Gary,

This is a long shot, but have you had any problems with your furnace or water heater? I work around HVAC equipment and I know that Carbon Monoxide can affect people differently.... I am just trying to give another possible cause of Luz's dizziness... How have you and the son been feeling?? Anyway, we hope Luz will feel better soon!

Danny

We have electric heat so i doubt if thats it.

Hi Gary , sorry to hear about ur wife, but I just wanted u to know my sister in law had the same problem with feeling dizzy and weak , it took several tests to finally find out she had a slight heart problem. Nothing really serious. She now just takes medication to regulate it. It was something to do with an irregular heart beat.

They had her on a heart monitor for over 30 hours the other day. At this point I am not ruling out anything but since she was on the CCU floor of the best heart hospital in the area I am hoping that is not the problem.

I hope not either, but she should see a doctor asap. It could be anything. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hi Gary,

Well I am currently taking Prometrium 200 as well but for different reasons. I am also not taking it in combination with any other meds or hormones. The pill I take is actually a suppository that you insert once a day (sorry for being so graphic) and I have too experianced some side effects. There is a great deal of cramping/bloating and I occasionaly get very dizzy to the point where I just have to sleep. However I'm a completly different boat here and have several other complications as well so i can't really pin point this all to the prometrium. What I can tell you is that the moment I take, I instantly feel ill and that feeling lasts for about an hour or so. So she could very well be having some side effects to the prometrium.

Other things I would consider would be ear infection, blood sugar, and blood pressure.

For those of you who think its unwise to give medical advice on the net, well I'm not in agreement with you. People here are sharing experiances and opinions with someone who ASKED for the advice and ideas. Doctors can't always answer everything and sometimes it just takes meeting or knowing someone who is or has gone through something similar to be able to get some answers and present those to your doctor.

My case is a perfect example of this, I got the prometrium presecribed to me because I asked my doctor about it after talking to several people about my issues with early pregnancy. She never offered it or mentioned it until I asked. She was thrilled that I did bring it up because that is the sole reason I am still pregnant today.

Hope Luzy feels better!

JP

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

Ok, I think we have this nailed down now. I told Luz to stop taking her hormone pills until I could get her into the doctors. Like a little dingbat (she is my wife so I can call her that :P ) she took her hormone pill again today. The same thing happened again!!! I got a call from Robin about 2 hours ago and he told me that Luz was dizzy and not feeling well again. This time it wasn't as bad as before and she convinced me that I didn't need to come home. She took a nap for about an hour and I just talked to her. She is back to normal albeit kind of groggy. When I get home I will be flushing those pills!

Right now I am confident that the first episode sunday was a reaction to the first hormone pill and the fumes from the cleaning products. I am also confident that yesterday and todays reaction was the result of this hormone that she is taking. I WILL call the doctor and insist that he changes her hormones back to what she had before. We will see what happens this weekend when she isn't taking those pills. I have a feeling that all will be well. I will keep you all posted. Thank you all very much for your advice and well wishes. This week has been one I do not want to repeat!!!!

Also, careful when stopping from 1 day to another the medication...it's not recomended.

The best advice for meds side effects (at least here in Canada) is the pharmacist and the nurse. Doctors, at least some of them do not take the time needed to explain them. If she is not confortable to go to the dr. (oh i understand her so well) maybe she can get in touch with organizations for women and for their specific worries, info, etc...where she can find her own way of taking care of the problem.

Best of luck to her and you guys!!!

Gary, is Luz taking her hormone pills with water or taking them while eating a meal? I know that I would get loopy or dizzy if I took mine on an empty stomach (ie no food). Just a thought. Hope you all get this figured out soon. :)

Sorry I'm just now seeing this :(

I hope it's just the hormone pills. I don't know anything about all that stuff but it does sound very likely. I was thinking about blood sugar level and things like that as Luz looks pretty tiny even if she is eating the same, but that doesn't seem likely at all.

I'm glad you guys have got it figured out, hopefully, sounds like. Even if it meant Luz was stubborn and took the pill anyway to figure it out :P

But I guess there's a reason she switched from that first hormone pill in the first place :( Ah well, maybe it's like birth control pills. I know with those I had to switch around a couple times to find one that didn't make me all wonky.

Good luck! Please be safe.

::There’s a laugh in my eyes::

There’s a waltz in my walk

And it’s been such a long time

Since there was hope in my talk

If you never knew

What it is that’s new.. it’s you

‘Cause when your hands are in mine

You set a fire that everyone can see

And it’s burning away

Every bad memory

To tell you the truth

If it’s something new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

The world’s a different place

Where nothing’s too hard to say

And nothing’s too hard to do

Never too much to go through

To tell you the truth

Everything that’s new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

My life, my life

Ohh

So if I get to grow old (oh if I get to grow old)

With many years behind me (many years behind me)

There’s only one thing I want (aahh)

One thing I need beside me

For all that you are

For everything you do

For all that you’ve done

Just for showing me the truth

You're doing all the right things, Gary... sounds like you're narrowing it down.

It's a shame we have to be our own medical advocates....

Much love to Luzy... tell her there are other ways to get attention, ok? ;):P

It could be her pills. It could be her pills mixing badly with something else she may be taking.....something as small as Tylenol.

It could be anything.

Please tell her that these spells, even if she is coming out of them on her own, are very dangerous to her body in the long term.

I hate doctors too; but sometimes they are a necessary evil.
