I love my Alla's accent. Her accent is part of what makes her her. After being together for almost 5 years and living together in Russia for one, I can say, I never misunderstand her.

Oh, I misunderstand Mags all the time. Just last week I killed this guy because I thought she told me to. Turns out she was saying we should send him a card.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I don't hear Gary's accent anymore either, unless he is tired then he can be a bit hard to understand, as he mumbles lol But he still isnt totally comfortable speaking in restaurants, ect, cause he says people cant understand him.

I would think saikou has a half african half british accent.

At first, I could hardly understand my sweetpea.

Then when we had lived together awhile (his country) I was able to understand everything.

Now, if I put him on the phone with friends or family, they always say "translate your man for me cause I have NO idea what he is talking about!".

hahaha

I will call and he will say hello....baby. It's funny cause he says baby like a few seconds after saying hello.

I have to laugh at that everytime. It sounds strange not being said completely together. Hmmm...

I don't notice hubby's american accent anymore. Its just the way he speaks. Ive stopped noticing american accents altogether I think. The longer you are here I think, the less the words sound strange. I still have my London accent and hubby only comments when Im either upset or angry, and I really go into my London/Essex tirade, throwing in a bit of rhyming slang just for good measure. My mum is Irish though with a very soft accent. Hers does get stronger too when shes 'avin a rant !

I've found myself dropping my "t" now occasionally. I have caught myself saying "budder" instead of "butter" or "bu'er". I guess it is just the influence of all the accents I encounter every day now.

I'm certainly not trying to lose my accent, I don't want to be the British equivalent of Madonna! Oh the horror!

Oh that would be soooo bad. I know people think Scots, Welsh, Mancunians etc have strong accents, I really think us "suvverners" have the one that is toughest to lose. We have a friend from Hull who has been here 6 years and she sounds like a native. She really is the British version of Queen Madge!

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Oh no! I've really started making an effort to NOT lose my accent (I mean I've only been here 15 months for gawds sake!), most people understand me (well, unless I say herb, with the "h"...lol) too. I reckon I need to start downloading more British TV, to feel like I'm right back home.

Funnily enough, a bloke came into my work the other week and he was from Brentwood in Essex. I'm originally from Southend and once we got talking it felt great to actually have a face to face convo with a fellow Essex person!

We sounded like a couple of Essex people down the pub having a jar on a Friday night. :D

I live in dang South Carolina, we're gonna screw Iain's lovely accent up :(

OMG, no! heh heh

I live in Kentucky, but was born and raised in California.

It still gets under my skin sometimes when I hear things like "we aint got no.." or "its over 'er" instead of over THere. Im quite used to "y'all"... lol I've been here 10 years now!

I was telling him about the way most ppl talk here.... he thinks "ya'll" is hilarious and loves to tease me saying hes going to start saying ya'll and aint all the time.. LOL

I said, PLEASE dont let anyone here teach you how to pronouce anything hee hee hee

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
