Hey,

I just came back to UK from visiting my fiance in the US. Had to go through secondary inspection. They asked me questions about our relationship, my job, his job, my plans while in the US. I had my return ticket, insurance papers and letter from my employer. Then they searched my suitcase, asked couple more questions and let me go after i promissed not to marry him this time :) It all took around 45 minutes. To be honest it's not the most pleasant experience in ur life, but at the end of the day u're going to see ur loved one, so who cares :)

Once u see ur fiance, u forget all the hassle u went through :)

I agree...even though I have yet to begin the K-1 process, the barrage of questions I receive is never fun.

I think the fact that I am a graduate of college just starting working again and visiting my fiancee in Halifax

where she works full time raises their eyebrows. The Canadian customs seem to be more concerned with me

entering due to the # of questions they ask and the tone in which they ask. The U.S. customs guy in the Halifax

airport just asks a simple "canned" set of questions and lets me go on my way. I can only imagine the difficulty

once I start this process soon.

I was also wondering if I will have trouble getting into the the UK to visit my fiancé. I am planning a trip in April and am wondering what I should tell the Customs official. The last time I visited I said I was visiting a friend and I didn't have any problems even though I only had a one-way ticket. I also said that I planned on staying for 1 month and ended up staying for 4 months. Do they keep a record of what you said when you visited before? When they look at my passport stamps are they going to question me about why I stayed for so long before? This time I will be buying a round-trip ticket and I will only be there for 2 weeks but I am not sure if I should say that I am visiting a friend or visiting my fiancé. I don't think I could get a letter from my employer but would pay stubs, a printout of my bank statements and college courses be adequate proof of my intent to return to the US. Should I bring a copy of my K-1 application and NOA1?

We started the K1 process in August while I was on a trip to the USA, and I visited the USA again for a further three months after I had received the NOA1. I got my NOA2 the same day I flew to the USA and returned to the UK a few days before my scheduled medical in London.

I had little problems getting in to the USA - I flew direct from Heathrow to Colorado, (after flying down from Manchester), and was just questioned at the standard desk for five minutes. I told the person questioning me that we had filed a K1 and that we were willing to go through the due process before I stayed permanently and that I would definitely be flying back in February to the UK. (Granted I told her that my fiancé was due to give birth during my stay and this may have swayed her a little.) She told me to ensure I did not marry while in the USA as this would lead to me being banned, (obviously I had no intention of doing so), and let me through with no further problems, (which I was grateful for after travelling for upwards of 20 hours).

Did he take any documentation with him such as proof of ties to england e.c.t.....? and did they ask for them?

My husband and I both traveled during the K1 process. When I went to the UK, I said I was visiting my fiance and they asked the normal, what nationality is he, where are you staying, how long have you been together etc. 30 sec. of questions and I was off. I brought a couple of things to show I was going back to the US like our NOA1, thingy showing I was still in school. He visited the US and brought a letter from his boss, thingy from Uni and bank statements and a copy of the NOA1 that I sent him. He said he was visiting his fiance and they just said ok and let him through. No other questions. Both times we weren't dumb and didn't pack half our life, didn't seem nervous and had no problems at all.

Oh, the previous time I had been in the UK, I stayed for 3 months and didn't have any questions asked about it.
