If either of you are fluent in both Spanish & English, you can do it yourselves and save some $$. We did it for our AOS and it was fine.

At the bottom type the following, and have it notarized, and you are all set.

I, ________ certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and Spanish languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled Certificate of Birth.

Yes, the birth certificate translation is needed. We did it by ourselves too.

The notarization will cost 10 dlls.

Good luck

Notarization $10? Most banks will do it for free if you have an account with them, in Arizona the max they can charge is $2.

Wow, you can translate the document yourself? No problem with the notary, my bank will do it for free.

Did you translate the English on top of the existing birth certificate, or create a seperate document?

Translate it on a separate piece of paper, at the bottom enter that statement that I cited above, and have the notary sign at the bottom of the document. Don't alter the existing BC.

I gave a translation statement too, it was not notarized. I don't think translations need to be notarized.

Bank of America I know doesn't do notarizations (only relating to bank documents), though other banks do (credit unions do it for free). We had to pay $10 per page when we had the statements from friends notarized (for AOS).

Is the notarization new? Ours was rec'd by USCIS March 2nd of last year, and we had not gotten our's notarized and it was fine.

Not sure if its new, I was always told to do it on any documents I translated. So I did it on the BC for AOS also. Better to have it all done, than risk a RFE & delays.
