Global politics, not an exact science. I don't think blowing up a few Russian 'buzz' jets is a sound foreign policy whatever the immediate fgf might be.

I don't think anyone believes blowing up the bombers is a good idea. However, the captain of the Nimitz would have been 100% justified in opening fire. The problem her is that Russia isn't just encroaching. They are flying bombers over US soil. They are flying bombers over US service members.

They are also knee deep in the Iran conflict. The missile defense program in eastern europe is a little dumb on our part.

As far as NATO and the UN is concerned, Russia is trying like hell to keep those countries around them from joining, as they want to be able to bully them. If those countries want to join the UN and/or NATO, let them. Russia should not be allowed dictate their policy. Neither should we.

actually, the bears being that close to the carrier isn't much of a big deal as if they had hostile intent, they'd have displayed that about 100 miles or so away. all they do being that close is interfere with carrier flight ops (and gather eyeball intel).

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Would you expect us to change our foreign policies after all these years?

These over-flies were commonplace in the mid 70's to the end of the cold war. It was actually a welcome to carriers in-chopping into the South China sea and was somewhat of a game.

The idea was to catch the carrier group off guard and once or twice they were successful!

I know for a fact that now it’s virtually impossible for them to surprise the group anymore as they’re being tracked hundreds of miles away.

These provocation’s really don’t mean anything to the U.S. Navy as they, the Russian Bear, pose little threat.

As an aside, I just saw the CNO (Chief Of Naval Operations) on tv news and he says that during the cold war they (the ruskies) would never have flown over an aircraft carrier.....

NOT TRUE! I was on several carriers and can attest to the fact that they indeed did fly over the deck of aircraft carriers!

So you think it is a good idea for the USA to be bound by treaty to expend American blood and treasure to defend Lithuania, Poland, Germany, etc. in the 21st century?

Do you think most Americans other than the elites do?

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."
