  1. 1. Should the Oath of Allegiance be a blood oath?

    • Hell yeah, the oath should be signed in blood to seal the commitment

    • No, it is no longer possible to expect a lifelong commitment from naturalized citizens

Sorry, I'm pro-isolationism and protectionism.

Seriously? Since when? Have you read anything by Pat Buchanan?

Since always, man. I believe in free trade only when it benefits us.

Ah, Colonialism.

Yeah, you say that now until he and his cohorts try to throw the yoke off and claim independence. Imperialist swine.

i think it is a fine tradition ...

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

If I moved to Canada (where my SO is from) and became a Canadian citizen, I would not give up my American citizenship. Neither the Canadian government nor my SO would demand or expect me to do so. Understanding this, I find it unreasonable to force those who come to the United States and become citizens to relinquish their birth country's citizenship in order to "prove" their loyalty.

The process to become a U.S. citizen is long, difficult and costly. I sincerely doubt very many people would bother with it just for the passport alone. By demanding a "blood oath" the U.S. would only keep legal immigrants out, while the illegal immigrants would still come in, as usual. The new rules would not apply to them, since they would be "under the radar" and very few of them have would much interest in becoming citizens anyway (especially if such stringent rules were in place).
