Trying to figure out if just by calling in to the customer service number it generates a touch on your case?

Or if my call actually cased them to do some investigation or work on my case?

thank you

When i called for the CSC status using the RFE trick on 1/18/08, it generated 3 touches, so yes, a call would generate touch(es). I don't really know if they actually did some investigation on my case. Some filers get their approval without even getting any touches. I'm thinking when I called, the CS rep probably punched my case # on the computer and caused an update on the case? I'm not quite sure...it's hard to say.

Yes, calling does seem to generate a "touch" and no calling doesn't speed up your case. The person you talk to looks up your case and it has nothing to do with the person who's actually working on your file.

How did you get an expedite on a k-1? I didn't think they offered that.

* I think* its only if the USC is military and about to be deployed. *I think* he or she has to have proof of such orders before the K1 can be considered for expedited service.

Calling them does not automatically generate a "touch". Before we received NOA2 we called twice using the RFE trick and never got any touches.

The first touch we got was on the day they approved our petition, so don't freak out if you didn't get any touches yet. No touches don't necessarily mean that they are not working on your file...

There are differing experiences on this. We called once each week for three weeks once our petition was approaching the six month point and EVERY call resulted in a touch. I doubt it had any impact on the approval though. We got approved 4 weeks after starting to call in and this was in line with others who had either the same NOA1 received date or actual sent date.

The USCIS call center staff cannot speed up the process for you. They can (when they're helpful) tell you that your petition is on its way to an adjudicator - which is what happened the week before we got approved. All previous calls we were told the standard 'we approve petitions in the order they are received'.

There are 6-7 catagories that you can request expidited processing under, you can read about them on the USCIS website.

It seems its very rare for them to approve them though.

Yes, there are other categories and I do apologise...I should have been more specific. The imminent deploy of a military member seems to be the only reason a petition will be expedited. As to the other reasons, it is VERY RARE. I don't think I've seen one other than the military reason.

I sent an e-mail long ago - and received an e-mail response stating USCIS does not communicate with people that way. I got a touch that same day, but no approval for another month. Therefore, I know that that touch meant nothing.
