I think in Egypt, mashi is stuffed vegetables.

yeah it's a mixture of rice, tomatoes and some herbs (I need a recipe for the mixture sooo bad it's not funny!!!) and then you stuff whatever you have on hand with it like peppers, grape leaves, baby eggplant, etc. My sil's make it sooooooo good!!!!!

i just looked in a cookbook i have "the foods of israel today" by joan nathan and it means stuffed veggies in here too. stuffed with a rice/tomato/etc mixture. yum.

my husband's mom makes something similar expect its stuffed with meat with a little rice. and covered in a tomato sauce (like a loose chermoula)
