Can I get some advice? Nobody in my family will be a co-sponsor

Hey everyone,

Well, I am starting to lose hope that this is really going to work out. The fact of having a co-sponsor is just something that will not fly with anyone in my family. Nobody is willing to help me out saying it is high risk. I guess it is true what they have to say, but I am left pretty much hopeless now. Even though I may be working two jobs, my income is only about $14 - $16,000 a year. I have no idea what I can do. Its not like I have assets worth of a million dallors. I am a hopeless college student in love with someone whom I can't even be with if I wanted to. I just don't know what to do. If any of you have any ideas, please, give me some insights. I am really at the bottom now.

Depends on what you are willing to do to make it happen... are you willing to take a sabatical from your studies and get a job that allows you to make the needed requirement and then return to school at a later date?

I am willing to do whatever it takes. How can I do that? I am attending the winter semester right now and it wont end until April and I might get my NOA 2 by then?

Is there anyway you could maybe put your schooling on hold, get a full time job for awhile to make the requirement then return back to school after?? That would be a very hard choice. Sigh..I know how hard this is..you just want to be with her.

Friends are in the same boat, too high risk and that would not be something they would help me with.

I don't know, maybe I can work more at the jobs I am at now and try to make more? How much more do I need to make? Maybe I can withdraw from this semester at the University.

The 2007 poverty line for 2 ppl is 13,690. I believe you must be 125% above before taxes which is 17,113. So i dont think your far off.

Well lets do the math. If you make 15500 you need to have 5(1600) in liquid a.

So thats 8000 it stocks,bonds, savings etc.

I am not sure exactly, I need to compile that together. I started working that year but I also trained in my jobs so my income will be lower than it will be in 2008.

Yeah, exactly what I was going to say. And you can even ask the consulate to move your interview out a month or two if you really need to.
