we have a lady that comes 2 times a week to clean but she only cleans upstairs (we live in an apartment in the basement) the house is about 3500sq ft minus our 1500sq ft in the basement and I think we pay about $100 a day but she also does laundry on top of the cleaning. poor lady needs to get about $500 a day if you'd see my sister's room. she's been cleaning for us for about 10yrs though...we actually call her dirty debbie

Is she legal? have you checked if she's a USC or has permission to work? :P

 no our stepsister just moved in though...very much drama but we hate her so we're hoping she moves back out in a few weeks. next she is legal she's a white american I think since she's worked for us for so long she hasn't raised it that much. I know it used to be like $60 when we were in a smaller house.

We have a few women who come every 2 weeks, Mel has had them for years. It is 55 dollars and they are in and out in about an hour. They don't do a pristine job- but at least they do the things I don't like- vacuuming, mopping and changing all the beds.

We use a maid who is here in USA legally and legally allowed to work, ( we know because when we interviewed her we required she show proof. )

We chose Not to use Merry maids because they hire illegals who are not legally authorized to work in the USA, I refuse to support that.

HOw do you know that? That's not what their website says.

That's what I'm looking for. I can do the easy stuff but the heavy things like mopping the floors, vacuuming, changing the sheets, scrubbing the bathroom is what breaks my back and hurts my hands. When I do all that I'm no good for a few days after.

That's what we had when we lived in Ireland; with both of us working full time, it was M&S meals and a cleaning lady twice a week to keep us sane! I have better ways to spend my free time than scrubbing the kitchen.

AS if their website will come out and tell you that they indeed hire illegals.

Our Neighbor used merry maiods until she found that the cleaning lady was in usa illegally and she asked her to show legal proof of residancy and work eligibility and she could not, A call to merry mads only confirmed that the cleaning ladies legal status was "in process" BS.

If you use merry maids request Id of the cleaning ;lady that comes to your house.

Also what regulates these Franchised businesses? they are indiv. owned & operated.

Below was pasted from their own website in very fine print.

Services provided by independently owned and operated franchises or corporate-owned branches. Employment hiring and screening practices may vary. Please contact your local Merry Maids office for more details.

They're 10 and 11 and trust me once you've seen them mop the floor you'd hire merry maids too!!! lol. They're a lot cheaper mind you but so is the quality. They take care of their rooms and they pick up after themselves but that's about all I can count on them for at this point. I"d rather they focus their energy on homework and kid stuff when they're rooms are clean.

Anyhoo the lady came and it's only $83/week for me so that's not too bed. You guys scared me with this $400/300 stuff!!! lol. The first visit is a little over $200 but that's to be expected I think. I'm psyched now!!:dance:
