Physically entering the US

Okay this may sound like a silly question and jumping the gun a little since she still has to interview with the consular, but what do we do when we get to passport control? We're entering the US together (I'm flying down for a party with her family and then we're flying back together). Since she'll have the K1 and I'll have my US passport, do we go through the "US" section or should we both go through the "non-US passport" area? Do we have to go separately or is it ok (*and better) if I accompany her?

Actually, it depends on the airport and sometimes just what mood they are in. Andre and I had to split up. It was no big deal. I was done first and just waited for him. We came through Miami.

Others have reported being able to go through together.

Its called immigration, and wether you can go together or not depends on the airport. As the traffic control person at the airport when you arrive.

Naawww. Usually, a USC and immigrant traveling together can just pick the shortest line or if you prefer, the USC can accompany the immigrant through the immigrant line.

That's strange. Every post on this topic I've ever seen has supported the notion that the USC and K-1 holder can go through the same line together. What airport were you traveling through?

In any case, don't worry too much about it. You'll just meet up on the other side to pick up your luggage and go about your way.

I agree with you, Mox. Most of what I've read seems to agree that you can stay together. I sure hope wherever we use for our POE (probably JFK or Atlanta) allows it! Sometimes it can take hours to get through the lines, and I really don't want to be separated during this time!

There will be an immigration official there waiting and directing...or should be anyway. Ask them.

As stated above, there are tons of reports of both scenarios so it's best just to ask. There are POE reviews here on VJ as well.

You should be going through immigration/customs before you even are allowed entry into the US so i'd say 'ya'.

She goes through the resident line with you.

Flew to Brazil to escort my lady back, came through on Oct 28.

You go through the resident line then they escort her to the interview room, tell her you will not be allowed in the room with her and will have to wait outside.

My lady was upset when she went through the door and I did not.

With the K-1 she is considered a resident not a visitor.

Coming from Brazil Atlanta, Delta Airlines, and Houston, Continental, are the same.
