Supporting a baby....

I was wondering if anyone has a baby when you just come to the U.S.? And how much it was...because I will have to solely support her with a low paying job, perhaps with little insurance. Would there be help from the government after she stays here for 2 years...

Thanks for any comments.

Someone more knowledgeable might have something to say, but I think she will be eligible for some program they have for medical care for the baby, and prenatal care too if that's relevant.

Good luck, man. You better find a second (and third) job.

Single parent moving to the US to do a low paying job? Why?

I got the impression he was marrying a very pregnant Canadian.

I see, it's not the immigrant asking. In that case, yes, there would be help available. And you're spot on about that second job.

Heck I have two jobs, and one of them is a very good paying job, relatively speaking. But, I'm a single mom who wants to pay off debts BEFORE getting remarried. Well, and plane tickets to Germany can be pricey :)

Anyway, to the OP, yes you can qualify for state insurance for the baby and possibly for some type of assistance.

I agree. Eric, there's no need to ridicule him for asking for help here, even if it's in OT. Help answer his question or refrain from posting in this thread.
