Got my Advance Parole and left the US. Didn't quite make it. My dad passed away about 2 hours before I arrived in my home town. Nice thing is that I still feel I got closure. I got to tell him (on the phone) that I love him a few days ago and today I've seen him and he looked like he was asleep. So now I'll stay here for a while and make sure my family is okay.

I'm sorry! My prayers.

Hi guys,

Glad to see that the pool of August filers is getting bigger.

I have a question, maybe someone knows... I did the early walk in for biometrics last Wednesday and I'm stalking the Uscis website to look for changes, but there's nothing there... Last update was on August 11, when they cashed the checks... Now, I'm wondering, what's the first update to expect, "initial review" ?

I guess since we're not there yet, that means nobody even looked at our papers... :clock:

Maybe some of you know how it's supposed to unfold...

Thanks and good luck :)

I think that they do look at papers.

We got RFE. An email was sent yesterday that they've sent us a paper with it. Now 1. I wonder if we can go and do biometrics on Tuesday (or do a walk-in?) and what is in RFE because we have no clue.

I've seen a lot of people mention bio metrics and walk ins... I thought that they gave you an appointment? Or am I completely off? I'm kind of embarrassed to say I'm not really familiar with the process.

I sure hope they do...

What is your USCIS page saying? And did you only file 485?

The thing with RFE is you never know what they're about until you actually receive the notice in the mail...Hope it's something easy to fix. Reading about other people's experiences with RFE they sound worse than they actually are, so don't worry about it. Just keep us posted.

And yes, I believe you can do your biometrics, regardless of the fact you got an RFE. After my experience with the early walk in, I encourage you to try it if you don't want to wait for the scheduled date...

17/08/2015 Biometrics letter in the mail scheduled for September 2nd

Maria&Seve, they do give you an appointment date when you have a reserved slot to go get your biometrics done, let's say you have a day where you think you'll be in the area and you just could walk-in and get your biometrics done. The worst case being they send you out, the best case your biometrics are done ahead of schedule and now, all you need to do is wait! I hope that helps..

HI everyone. Just got our 3 NOA e-mails/texts. I am curious how long it takes to get the biometrics e-mail? We live on an island and its a bit of a pain to plan travels to the main land as its kind of expensive so we are hoping to plan a big trip out of it. Also do they generally do it in bigger city's? Im thinking we would have to go to Boston since we are in MA.

Welcome to the forum! The biometric appointment letter is usually sent via snail-mail. You will not receive a text/e-mail alert for it, nor would you receive one after completion of your fingerprinting/photo appointment.

After your electronic notification, you will receive a paper receipt Form I-797C. Shortly thereafter, you should receive your Biometric appointment letter in your mail.

As for locations in MA, there are 3 ASC's one in Lawrence, Boston and one in Providence. Usually, USCIS assigns the one closest to you, but I may be wrong.

I hope that helps! :)

Yes please do! I've seen so many people here adjusting from different visa's and they haven't even created a timeline yet. Quite frustrating when you're trying to predict when you could expect to hear something about your case.

Filled for AOS and Co on Aug 20th, was received the next day. Email and text notification with recipt number on 26th. I didn't fill for AP and I think I may be needing it. How do I go about that.

Do you need regular AP or Emergency AP?
