German magazine mistakenly publishes Bush obituary

BERLIN — Germany's respected news weekly Der Spiegel has mistakenly published an obituary for former U.S. President George H.W. Bush.

The unfinished obituary appeared on Der Spiegel's website for only a few minutes Sunday before it was spotted by Internet users and removed.

In it, the magazine's New York correspondent Marc Pitzke describes Bush as "a colorless politician" whose image only improved when it was compared to the later presidency of his son, George W. Bush.

Bush was hospitalized in Houston Nov. 23 for treatment of a bronchitis-related cough. He was moved to intensive care on Dec. 23 after he developed a fever.

A family spokesman says the 88-year-old former president was moved out of intensive care into a regular hospital room again Saturday after his condition improved.

That room full of living ex-Presidents will seem pretty small once Papa Bush is gone. Carter can't be to far behind. Didn't he have a close call a couple years ago?

I think Carter was well eclipsed by a certain more recent ex president. You know the one who turned a surplus into a huge deficit, encouraged the housing boom, cut investment in alternative fuel sources, got the US bogged down in two major ultimately futile wars, while being one of the first presidents in history to cut taxes while the country was involved in a major overseas conflict.

What was his name again?

I did not know the President had that much power in the executive branch.. Hate to break it to you but the hosing mess that caused all the other problems started a long time ago. In fact it was on carters watch. what a coincidence.

Speaking of HOSING, the real hosing mess started with Reagan. Only now are we starting to see some pushback against the likes of Grover Norquist who want to strangle our government in a bathtub! The hosing of the middle class began with Reagans attack on the unions and the middle class that the unions were so instrumental in bringing about. Many of you still don't see it but it will not be long before it becomes obvious to all but those whose heads are stuck far up some place that gets little natural light!

Unions are absolutely a sorry ignorant mans way to achieve something without working for it. With the battle cry of "it ain't my job", nothing extra is ever given. Much like a festering cancer the lazy destroyers of productivity suck the life blood out of any thing and have ruined the American auto industry,

Let's form a union. 1sr step-elect the laziest most malcontent ignorant SOB in the work force to be president. Step 2- File 100's of grievances over petty unimportant matters to bog down management and make work as inefficient as possible. Step 3- If the company hits hard times really accelerate demands to make sure that it goes under and you really find out you are only qualified to wok at 7-11.

I nominate Herschel to be the hit squad on Mr. Bush. Bonus points if he subcontracts out to the Assassin's Union.
