Hi everyone, I have a question, please somebody advice me in this case, I'll would very appreciate it :P

I got married in the USA, I have a green card and now the embassy of united states in Venezuela open again the application for tourist visas.

my parents never beeing out of Venezuela, but Iwant them to come and visit us, they dont wanna come and live here, they are old in the 60's.

They have their own home, own car, bank statements, business.

The Probability to be denied will be more because Im here?

I'm a little nervious about it.

thank you guys.

My Venezuelan Passport is expired soon. where I should go?

With their own home and business they should be good for a visa. They need to show strong ties to their home country to get a visa.

normally people living in the US get new passports through their embassies.

They apply and find out.

I thought you could extend your passport due to the paper shortage?

Ask for an extension if the consulate still not process the renewal (I know a couple of them doesn't).

You can request it 6 months before the expiration date, but I would wait 2 months before of it, and it will give you 2 years.

The probability of their denial will depend on different factors. There is a lot of hostility right now in the US consulate in Caracas, and even more from CBP if you are traveling from Venezuela.

Consider that bank statements in Bolivares doesn't count, so if they have them in other currencies it will be helpful.

And I hope you parents are not employees or related anyhow with government authorities, or the current ban will affect their admissibility.

I think it worth the chance for $320.

Did increase, but seem to remember it was well over $100 15 years ago.

Remember that is for 2.

yeah I know!!! the last time I applied for a tourist visa was back in 2006 along with my 3 siblings and both of my parents and it was a chunck of money we lost. Good thing that the denial never affected my process nor my parents possibilities on getting a new one which they did

That must have been very many years back. I’ve been getting tourist visas since 1990 and while I can’t remember what the fee was back then, i definitely remember it was just one fee non-refundable if refused. I do remember that interviews were not mandatory back then though, they only called you in if there was a question about your application.

Last time I applied for a visa, it was $100, but you were able to pay the equivalent in Bolivares, and that was when $1= 1,000 Bolivares.

less than 2 years after $1= 249.000 bolivares.

Now you must pay for it only with international debt/credit card.

yay! revolution!

I'd say roughly 15-20 yrs ago in India. Could the regulations have varied by country back then..??  Wasn't me, but someone I knew, or word on the street back then.

Anyhoos, back to OP's topic..

20 years ago you could apply at a Travel Agent in london, know somebody who did, well maybe a bit further back.
