Hi guys,

I'm new here so thanks in advance for being here to try and help me get my fiancé settled in the USA with me.

Also, i've looked through numerous forums and reached this topic many times and haven't found an exact answer so please don't tell me to keep looking.

My fiancé will hopefully be moving from Argentina on a K-1 Visa, we are just trying to get all of the paperwork situated.

The question(s) I have is (are) as follows: If I'm just barely beneath the "poverty" line for the Affidavit of Support and wish to use my parents as the joint sponsor for my fiancé, do I have them BOTH fill out their own Affidavit of Support? Or just one?

If the K-1 is approved, do they have to claim her on their taxes?

Is the Affidavit of Support the only form they would fill out? Or are they required to also fill out every form involved in the K-1 Visa process as well?

Additionally, are there any restrictions to using a joint sponsor? Such as, no family, co workers, anything like that sort?

Any extra information helps too!! If you know about it, just say it!

Thanks once again you guys, I've read a lot of information on this site already that has helped me a ton! You guys are awesome!!

hi

for the k1 you can only have one joint sponsor

your parents don't claim him on their taxes, the i134 affidavit of support is not legally binding, that's why once you marry and file the adjustment of status packet

you will have to fill out the i864 affidavit of support, there both of your parents can be joint sponsors and household member

joint sponsors don't have to be related
