OK, So my wife got her VISA today.

It says "upon endorsement serves as temporary I-551 Evidencing permanent residence for 1 year." Also, this visa expires October 4th, 2014.

I have a few questions:

1. If she comes to the US before that, does that mean she can't leave and come back after October 4th?

2. What happens when the 1 year is up? Do you apply to extend it? How long does that take? What do we do?

Thanks

1. She can come and leave whenever she wants. She has to enter US before Oct 4th

2. Hopefully by then she has her green card and can forget about visa in the passport.

Thanks. I'm not sure I understand though. Let's say that she comes here before October 4th, but leaves to see her parents around Christmas. How would she get back in if the visa expires on Oct 4th?

What is the process for getting the green card. How does that work?

When she passes through customs they will stamp her visa. It will become a temporary green card....good for one year...that will serve until the real green card comes in the mail. It works just like a green card. Her visa will not be good as soon as she comes as a visa is only for entering the US, it will be converted, via the stamp, to a temporary green card.

Was she a cr1 or Ir1 visa? She can stay whenever she wants. And she needs to fly to US before her visa expiration. Her port of entry stamp of her passport good for 2 years stay in the US after she gives her package visa. The 2 years green card received tru your address.

No her POE stamp on her visa is valid for 1 year as a temporary green card. It is not "good for 2 years." You are correct that she needs to enter the USA before the expiration date on the visa.

She or the OP will have to go to ELIS on the USCIS website and pay the $165 new immigrant fee sometime before her POE endorsement expires. After the USCIS has the fee and her visa package from the CBP, they can start the production of her hard copy green card.

Hey Galbania, i just read that your wife got her visa. Could you tell us when your case was completed and when your interview was scheduled? Cuz it's been almost 2 months for us since case complete date and we haven't any interview date yet. We're albanians too. Wish you luck

How long does that take usually?

I wish I could tell you. I am self-employed so they basically didn't believe that I made any money. Then when I was showing that I did it showed income from an overseas asset so they accused me of not living in the US. A real bunch of ###### ####### because every single thing is a month long process of a letter back and forth. Whole thing was a mess.

That being said, it appeared that 30 days was the average turnaround time on any sort of correspondence.

Good luck.

1-3 months after POE or payment, whichever is later.

Oh she got it right away. She didn't actually pick it up right away because she was not in Tirana but it was ready to go.
