POE what to do?

My husband and I will be travelling to the US next Easter to visit his family. I am the IR1-CR1 benificiary and, therfore, the non US citizen. We wil have all kind of documents ready to show I am not entering to the US on immigration purpose in advance (lease agreement, letter of my employer, proof of my husband´s Spanish residency, etc), My question is quite simple. What line/queue should i pass the passport control? US citizens and GC holders (i am not a gc holder yet)? Could my husband pass the control in the all passports queue like a foreigner being American? Thanks in advance

Since he is not a GC/USC he has to go to visitor's line at POE.

You will go in two different lines. You are a visitor and your spouse as a USC.

Her husband is the us citizen as I understand her post. You would go through the visitors line, and he may or may not be able to go through with you. There are usually customs staff stationed along the lines where people wait, he could ask one of them if he can go through with you.

Since you two married you can stay together and either go to the visitor line or USC line. Won't make a difference.

Thanks for your responses. Is any proof of marriage needed? Since we have different family names in our passports...Could the CBP officer suspect we are lying to him?....

I've never seen separate pre-clearance lines in Canada.

My husband and I flew into/out of Vancouver last year there were two separate queues for clearing customs -- one for Canadian citizens, one for all others (entering Canada), and one for US citizens, one for all others (entering the US).

I went with him in the Canadian citizen line to enter Canada, and he went with me in the US citizen line to enter the US.

From past experience, I'd say stay together in the visitors line. You could always show your tickets showing your traveling together but I doubt it will come to that.

Same thing for us - husband is Canadian, came to us to visit, we went to Mexico and then when we camelback into the US we both went through the USC line and had no issues as all since we married.

My husband and I have different names in our passports, too, and we carried a certified copy of our marriage certificate, but the CBP officer did not ask to see it -- he just took our word that we were married. Might be a good idea to have it just in case it is requested.

If you're traveling together especially with the same itinerary then go in the USC line, your tickets should be in your maiden name that is in your passport and you should carry a copy of your marriage certificate so any other documentation in your married name can be proven.

Have you applied for your ESTA yet? You need to do that ahead of time.

Oh yeah!!! I already applied to ESTA. Actually, I updated it cause it hasn't expired yet....thx to everyone!!
