May 2014 I-130 Filers

I couldn't find a thread for May I-130 filers so thought I'd start one myself. My wife sent me an itinerary and some pictures of our finalised package last night, which she did a fantastic job with. It's difficult assembling it together when we're separated by 5,000 miles. I was hoping we'd file in April but it looks like it's finally ready to go today! I'm really excited to be starting the process, though I know it's challenging. Good luck to all filing their petitions this month!

Got my I-797C NOA 1 2nd of May. Now it's time to kick back and wait for the 5 - 9 months approval or the rejection cause of an error...

My question who put there package together with a table of contents, labeled them, binder, and thinks they have a better shot then those who just tossed the papers hoping and praying ☺️

My wife was very, very meticulous when it came to assembling our petition. She included a cover letter and placed the forms, supporting documents, proof of relationship and photographs in separate labelled envelopes. She clipped everything together too rather than stapled. She did an amazing job.

We are about to send the package for my AOS. Would you mind to share how you put together yours? what kind of binders? I have some extra required documents to attach to some forms to explain the question and I am wondering how should I 'attach' it without the need of stamples and not getting mixed with the rest of copies. Is is ok to use clips? stapples? did you use manila letter size envelopes to send the required copies next to each form?

Can't believe there's a May 2014 thread.. I started in May 2013, and along with others who started in the beginning of 2013, we are finally slowly making our way to approvals for I-130s and case completes! (Over a year now!!).

I think I went over board on mine, so don't think by doing it would fast track, but I thought if I was a government employee who just wanted to get threw the day, since the supervisor would say you need to handle at least 20+ cases a day best get the easy ones out of the way. They see mine, it's in a binder, all the pages out in page protectors, all the pages have tabs with each marking what that tab is. Everything that can be typed, and not using a pen is done so there is no way they can not read my writing. Cover letter explaining all the contents, table of contents, that 1145 along with the payment just slipped into the page protector. No staples, since against pay in the side to get that staple puller out, then the 130 form, marriage certificate, my 325 form along with passport photo, my birth certificate, beneficiary 325 along with passport photo, beneficiary passport, beneficiary birth certificate, Bon a fide evidence: photos, affidavit from 2 non family members, western union money transfers, bought a cow with receipt under married name, airline itineraries printed out, hotel itineraries printed out, and four months worth of chat log.

Over board? Probably, but if they look throw it and their only complaint is I miss spelled or forgot to check a box and everything else is ok, I can live with overwhelming them. I figure the people at service center will spend more time looking at the 90+ photos, the wanting to really read four months of chatting. But I can safely say I did everything I could to show a Bon a fide relationship, which is my biggest worry. Although waiting as the other person who posted from May 2013, I hope it does not take a year just to get through service center. Half a year, fine no problem. Now I would get really upset if after a six month wait I get a notice that there was a problem with one of the forms... That would suck, then having to wait even longer.

Would a lawyer really speed things along or just save from chewing finger nails to the quick? I don't know, but I like to think we are smart enough not to give our money away to vultures. Others have done so, why not us.

Ugh, that really doesn't fill me with optimism... Did you get any RFE's or encounter any other obstacles during the petition stage? Congratulations on finally getting your approval though! Hopefully you'll fly through NVC/Consulate.

No RFE's or anything. It was due to a backlog from USCIS back in the late of 2012/early 2013. They seem to be sorting the issue out and their website does say they are "within processing times". Don't believe everything you see on there, or what the customer reps tell you. They really don't know much! I'm pretty sure anyone who has filed after last year will be fine though. Shouldn't really be an issue. There's approvals everywhere! Good luck to you all! I just couldn't believe it when I saw the May 2014 thread, when I was hanging around 2013's for about 10 months until approval! Thanks! NVC is much quicker because a lot of it is on your time scales, but no need to worry about that yet!

My wife just put the finished package into an envelope and it's going to the post office tomorrow. It'll be 8 weeks to the day after we were married that it goes in. I'm so glad it's in, I can't wait for NOA1! Because at least it'll be a short thing to wait for. Then the endless waiting of dooooom sets in. Or it'll feel it, but I just try to remind myself, it's all part of the end game!

I'm praying, PRAYING for Nebraska... Trying to get used to the feeling of waiting around. It'll be good to get the NOA1 and know the ball is rolling.

Hey guys will be applying for my I-130 soon, wondering how I should get the packet together for pictures? Should I copy in paste pictures on Microsoft word with dates etc? Also do I need to send passport copies for my husbands passport as of now or is that done later? Crossing fingers we all get approvals quick. I know due to the backlog cases have been taking 8+ months. Is this still going on right now any updates on which is processing the quickest as of now?
