My step kids had their interview at the embassy today in kingston, they want a dna test and proof of how much i pay in bills. I already know his fourteen year old daughter is not his. so I am making the arrangements for the dna testing. not sure what is exceptable proof of how much i pay in bills. I submitted my aos i guess it's not good enough to know how much i make they want to know what i spend. whatever. recently many of you have encouraged me should this all happen with the dna that there would be no hope. I have read that I could adopt her and that i need paternity test then done on the real father and he needs to give permission for her to leave country. does anybody have more information. ihave spent more time on the appropriate websites and i remember seeing something about cases such as these but don't remember when. I called uscis today and they said that they would deny it but as for the child still immigrating that is country specific if they will allow it. It is up to the embassy to tell me if the child can and how she can go anyways. please some information so i may begin preparing for this awful delay.

Are they looking for you paying bills for your step child?

I believe you stated in another thread you had tons of western union receipts. I would get them all inputted into some monthly expense report to show exactly how much you been sending monthly.

As far as DNA and you say one of the children isn;t your husbands don;t they need mother or fathers permission to leave country? Now this is something I would really seek a good immigration attorney on and seek a consult.

they wanna know how much money i spend on my bills every month. it's not good enough to know how much money i make. they need proof of monthly bills

Is other parent of your step child alive? or your husband have full custody?

I have also applied for my step child, wondering if they will ask us also for DNA test? do you know how much time it will take to get DNA results?

Okay which one do you want answer first,

let start with bills, they want to see your debt ratio to your income. If your debt is greater than income earn, then they will be requesting a co-sponsor.

Now on to the DNA testing, when the results are back and if it proves that the husband is not the biological father of thsi child , yes it will be denied.

Adoption, first you need to look at the requirements that are enforced by Jamaica as regard to adoption.

Second, you need o look at the requirements that are enforced by USCIS, one of the biggest hurddle that most people face are the 2 year residency of living in the adopted child country before you can petition for the adopted child.

Adoption is not a DIY procedure, you will need to hire 2 lawyers, one in Jamamica and another in the US.

This is starter information.

Goodluck.

i don't get it carribbean forum specific answers?

Because every country has different laws and rules you would be better serve to have this moved to your regions forum so they can chime in and more than likely someone who has been there and done that can lead some direction.

Same thing what you said.

Question:

Do you think he should go ahead with the DNA for the 14 year old since he already knows that it is not his child? I feel like you would be throwing away money here.

Also she would have to be adopted before she reaches 16 years old.

Sorry to hear about that though. Was looking to hear good news for you today.

That why they need to look to see how long it takes the courts in Jamamica to hear an adoption. If the family court operates like the rest of the court system, the child will be 16 before the case gets to court.

I was a little concern when the OP stated that they will get the birth father to sign the child over for adoption. If they already knows that the child is not her husband, then maybe they should use the money to do DNA against the birth father. They are going to need this factualinformation to proceed with any type of adoption. Just a suggestion.

I would be concerned that you knowing petitioned a person that you claimed was your issue when you knew it wasn't. It could end up being more complicated than a failed test. Lying to gain an immigration benefit is misrepresentation.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

First of all i do not know for positive, so I didn't comit any fraud. His baby mama cheated alot which he found out way at the end of the ten years he was with her. Second they only want dna on one child i just found out. that is good news, it's because we went to jamaica last november to fix the way they spelled his son's last name, the other child is fine. so then prove how much money is going out in bills, and they also asked for more proof that my husbend lives with me. I paid 520 dollars for the paternity test, my husbend is going monday morning to a local place only thirty miles from our house. then they will send the other kit to the embassy in jamaica and the test should only take 3 to 6 weeks, (forever). getting results is only two days but they told me the embassy will just sit on the kit and not do anythiing until they are ready or done with people ahead of me. and then the blue slip said they will contact me when it's time to come back so I am assuming the additional evidence requested other than the dna I just send with the kids when the embassy tells me I can come back for my appointment????? It's getting closer to christmas and the airline tickets are gonna triple in price the closer it gets.....ugh thanks for your guys support i appreciate the advise. just trying to be a good step mother here and prepare for my jamaican children
