Hi all,

Hope you doing well all of you!

I have a question!, I'm a US citizen and I'm a student now, I want to fill I-130 to my mother to let her get a GC. I'm asking about the I-845, I don't have the enough income to sponsor her also I don't have a cosponsor too. my question is: my mother have a property in IRAQ that worth a good amount of money, it can be more than 5 times that they request for assets.

Can I send documents and proves of this property?

Thank you,

Susan

as I understand the I-864 instructions, an asset for a FOREIGN SPOUSE (not mother) can be computed at 1/5 the asset value.

Not sure about MOTHER, though.

Any clarity on MOTHER/PARENT in the I-864 instructions ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I agree with Darnell, the asset cannot be used as it is not that of a spouse, Plus, many embassies won't accept assets in a foreign country anyway. Can your mother liquidate the asset, ie sell the property and transfer the money in your name?

** moved from "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" to "Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America" as the prior forum is for K1, K2, K3 & K4 visas so this is a more appropriate location**
