My interview today really went well. Got there 45 minutes early. All of the guards who do the inspection is really nice, friendly and polite. Headed to 2nd floor submit our interview appointment to the lady in the counter then waited for 15 minutes then my name is called. Everyone seems really nice and it makes me comfortable.

The interview probably took like 10 minutes including her flipping the pages of my files. Then asked me and my husband to stand up and raise our right hand promising to tell nothing but the truth.

My IO is very quite but very nice.

Asked for my passport, I-94, EAD and drivers license (which I don't have yet but no biggy).

Then start asking my full name, birthday, address, place of birth, country, date of marriage, last entry in the US and my SSN. Shes making sure everything in the paper information is right.

Asked if I have children and if hubby have one?(No).

Asked the questions with answers of NO.

Asked about having children and we answered not for a long time economy is bad and she smiled.

Then she asked when did we meet and how. Then my husband answered 2004, since then coming back and forth till 2008, and how long he stayed in Phils(hubby is giving to much info even not asked, he's a talker) lol The Officer seems to like my hubbies story. She starts jotting down the info in a yellow sheet of paper.

Then asked if we have any bills in our name. I answered no we don't since we live in his parents house but showed her our joint bank account paper and my immunization history having both of our names.

She said no bills is fine since you live in your parents. (hubby added its a blessing living with them no bills to pay) she smiled.

She told me that I need to change my name. Dropping my father's last name as my present middle name and used my mother's maiden last name next time coz its required when filing naturalization someday. That I need to follow the US way of using name. (hmm ok)

And then said to wait for 2 to 3 weeks for their reply in the mail for my GC.

That's it and no more asking for latest income tax return, W2's and pay stubs for the last 2 months.

(But when we send our AOS application we submitted most of it originals. Maybe that's why)

But wait my hubby offered her to look at our wedding pics and pictures together for the past 1 year. Even offered her to get some of the pics. And she did look at it and politely said ok I will get at least 5 picutes to include in the file. ( hubby is over confident even showing her our wedding rings ) She just smiled and said cute.

She said to have a great day and hubby shake her hands. I shake her hands to and said nice seeing you. lol

So I thanked God for everything. Writing this testimony of mine took more time than the interview. lol

Hoping for a successful AOS interview for everybody else.

Never heard of that - your name is what you want to make it.

That's it and no more asking for latest income tax return, W2's and pay stubs for the last 2 months.

(But when we send our AOS application we submitted most of it originals. Maybe that's why)

They should not - if you sent the most recent return when you submitted your AOS, they go with that. (they will only dig deeper if they are not sure of the initial info)

Congrats!

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Regarding name change, how will you do that? Do you have to go back to the SSS office to change your name? I followed Philippines rule so I dropped my mom's last name. Hmm...

I still don't know what will happen. I will wait for my GC to arrived if they still used my father's last name as my middle then I will probably need to have my name change in court or another option is to change my name in my application next time in USCIS like for 10 yrs GC. Then after that maybe go to SSN and have my name change. Actually that's a question that I have in my head to. :)
