Greetings:

Last week I received the email from USCIS stating our case has been approved, (NOA2). Now comes the next step, NVC.. I have been reading as much as I can about how long it will take NVC to get our case so that I can proceed on to the next adventure... The National visa Center..

I've read to start calling the NVC about two weeks "after" our NOA2 date, is this a good time? Just for the fun of it, I called the NVC center today, the person I spoke to must have come from USCIS because they were not very nice at all. The USCIS tells me only two weeks, that is why I am writing this thread. Just wondering what an average is for this wait.

We are going to be going through the electronic processing at Guangzhou for my now pregnant wife and hope we can get her here before she delivers. If not, yet more paper, more money, more frustration with the US Government, and the worse of it.. More time apart, especially since our wonderful Corporate America only allows us employees very little time off.

Any information would be helpful.

Thank You

Dan

They tell you 2 weeks for good measure, but you can start checking in a few days, they'll probably have it faster than that. You don't have to speak to an operator to find out if they received your case. Just follow the prompts on the recording - when you put in your USCIS case #, it will update you with your NVC case #.

They pad all of their numbers, just in case.

What is a good number for checking status? 603.334.0700 ??

Yes, that's the NVC # - follow the prompts for checking on an Immigrant Visa - enter your USCIS case # & the recording will give you your NVC case # (after they've received it of course). Then call them back immediately - press #5 to speak to an operator - and give them email addresses for both you and your SO.

Just keep hitting redial until you get through. It took me about 25 minutes this morning, but I was phoning at the worst time, too (around 9am Eastern). Then, when it does actually ring, you get to spend a bunch of time on hold when you choose the option for an operator.

If this is the Number: 603.334.0700....... it is always busy... any other number to try?

The AVR works 24/7 - so call again early morning or late evening, to get yer case number (and NOT talk to a human, yet).

Good Luck ! (and reread yer prior posts, there are nuggets of good info there)

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Pay attention, non-EP NVC noobs. Here's Christeen's time tested formula to get you through NVC in one piece alive:

Petitioner: Get NVC # + give operator your email IDs + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send I-864 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page.

Beneficiary: Get NVC# + receive DS3032 + send DS3032+ DS3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay & wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail DS230 package with all original/certified documents

= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled.

Suggestions:

1) Have the beneficiary mail SIGNED extra DS230s to you so that you have them handy in case something goes wrong. Or you get hit by a dreaded RFE.

2) If you just received your NOA2, THIS is the time to get your tax stuff and police certificates sorted out. Don't waste time on this.

3) Double check the PCC requirements in the regional forums as they are country specific.

4) Check the pinned STUPID RFEs thread in IR-1/CR-1 forum.

Currently the # of business days NVC is taking:

3-4 days for NVC to receive your case and assign a case #.

3-4 days to receive emailed links after case # has been assigned and email addresses been given to NVC operator.

1-2 days for the AOS bill to show as PAID.

1-3 days for DS3032 to be accepted.

1-2 days for IV bill to be PAID.

8-11 days for case complete after all your documents have been sent in.

Folks--please make sure your official VJ timelines are up to date. Remember this is our only source of predictions. Thankyou!

SachinKy - he MIGHT be a EP NVC noob soonish, not a 'non-EP NVC noob'.

DJ - these are labels.

EP NVC - Electronic Processing @ NVC

non-EP NVC - paper filers at NVC - the majority of members here at VJ with I-130 petitions in play.

non EP NVC noob - a newbie. One who just left the pain and suffering of USCIS processing, and is edging up to the start line at NVC. Will be handling all via paper and postal submittal to NVC, hopefully after monitoring the online payment portal.

SachinKy has a good form and format for 'the steps' - but is non-EP specific for NVC. I was 'dinging' her, here, as there is huge propensity that you will NOT be a 'non-EP NVC noob' soonish, but instead, soonish, you'll be an 'EP NVC noob'

I've written a wiki page to handle NVC Electronic Processing Issues, Steps, and Concerns over at

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Electronic_Processing

If you have any questions about the steps, feel free to post them over at

and I'll follow up soonish (I swear ! )
