Yep - I had to do some work at White Sands and took the wife and step daughter with me. Flew into El Paso and drove to Alamagordo New Mexico. On the drive from El Paso to Alamagordo, we were stopped at a check point. Showed my drivers license, and and my wife and daughter presented their green cards and away we went.
I have been going there for about 20 years and the checkpoint has been there longer than that.

Nice selective cut and paste, but you left out a little. I will put it back for you. "According to twenty-year ATF veteran Jay Wachtel, letting guns "walk" was done in the past in a controlled manner that involved surveillance and eventual seizure of the weapons.[1] According to ATF field agents involved in Operation Fast and Furious, under Project Gunrunner "ATF agents were trained to interdict guns and prevent criminals from obtaining them" and not to allow guns to walk and then disappear.

Florida law: A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly forceif he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.
A broken nose and scalp lacerations probably provide all the evidence that Zimmerman needs to say he met the standard.
Zimmerman had a right to be there, had no duty to retreat, and once he was injured he was free to use deadly force. Following someone is not illegal, and comes nowhere close to meeting the definition of stalking in Florida. If you don't like Florida law, then change it. However, Zimmerman will be prosecuted under Florida law, and I suspect when Zimmermans attorney makes the motion to dismiss, it is all over.
The prosecutor in my opinion brought this case for political reasons. It is so weak that the liberal Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz put it best: "If there are riots, it’s the prosecutor’s fault. Because she over-charged, raised expectations. No reasonable jury is going to convict based on the evidence I know of second degree murder. So this prosecutor not only may have suborned perjury, she may be responsible if there are going to be riots here for raising expectations to unreasonable levels."

Cmon - it is just as easy to kill with a knife. In two recent Florida cases that were dismissed under that stand your ground law, the death was caused by stabbing.
First - high school kid being bullied. The bully followed him off the school bus and starting punching him. The kid stabbed him 12 times. "In her decision, signed Dec. 30, 2011, the judge said Saavedra had “no duty to retreat” and was “legally entitled to meet force with force, even deadly force.”
“The defendant was in a place where he had a right to be and was not acting unlawfully. He had more than enough reason to believe he was in danger of death or great bodily harm ... (He) was under attack from the first punch to the back of his head until he stabbed Dylan Nuno.”
Prosecutors will not be appealing the case, a move that upset Dylan Nuno’s family and friends.
    Case here: Bully stabbing
Second case 2011 Florida: Guys finds out someone is stealing car radios. He not only stood his ground but chases the guy for a block before stabbing him to death. He then took the stolen radios and sold them. When the police interviewed him, he denied killing the guy until surveillance video surfaced. Judge says: Garcia blocked the bag with one hand and stabbed Roteta in the chest. Roteta's swinging of the bag could have caused serious bodily injury or death, and placed Garcia in fear for his life, the judge wrote.
Still, after the fatal stabbing, Garcia did not call 911. Instead, he hid the knife and sold two of Roteta's car radios, then initially denied the killing when interviewed by police. None of those facts played into the judge's decision Case Dismissed:
    Case here: Radio heist

I will say it again. This is so rare an occurance that is begs many questions.
LAX deals with folks from Korea every day, (thousands of them). I have personally seen Korean interpreters at LAX.
For the agents at POE to turn around an approved K1, begs a lot of questions. They may have discovered something that the OP doesn't know.
If and when we get the rest of the story, I'll bet it will make sense.
PS - My family was not hassled at all, even though my step daughter was issued the wrong type visa and we didn't know it. They corrected in on the spot, issed a letter saying the consulate has screwed up, and sent them on their way.

My wife and daughter carry theirs all the time. We have copies in the safe, but they carry the originals. If they lose them, so be it, we pay the piper.
Don't know what would have happened if they hadn't had the originals when we were in New Mexico a few months ago and hit a check point. Gee sir, we were scared of losing them and the originals are back in Georgia. Don't think that would have cut it.
Of course, I know many people on this forum do exactly the opposite.

So the homeowners association newsletter identifying Zimmerman as the Captain of the Neighborhood watch, means he is a creepy guy who appointed himself?
Plus, lawyers say, Exhibit A would be a newsletter sent by the association to residents in February, the same month as the shooting. It said Zimmerman was the go-to person for residents who had been the victims of a crime.
Under the heading "Neighborhood Watch," the newsletter's message recommended that residents first call police and then "please contact our Captain, George Zimmerman ... so he can be aware and help address the issue with other residents."

Yep - coming here on a tourist visa with the intent to marry and not leave, is visa fraud. If what you were saying was true, there would be no need for a Fiance K1 visa for most countries. Everyone would just get a tourist visa or VWP and marry when they got here.
