AOS is a time of limbo. The I-94 is not only the time to get married. After the I-94 expires, your husband would be out of status if he hadn't submitted his I-485. He did submit it, so he is here legally because his pending AOS grants him a period of authorized stay. Most DMVs, however, don't accept the NOA1 from I-485 as proof of legal status - since it can be revoked at any time. You'll have to wait for the EAD or GC to get him a DL, depending on your state laws.

LOL... this topic had me laughing because I am the Filipina, but American born- USC. One should note before reading my post that my blood is thicker than water and my roots still have some of these traits described earlier such as the dreaded "silent treatment".... uh oh.... what's K (my fiance) in for when he gets here??? lol Sheesh, why wait? I'll do it now.
I am currently, or should I say, HE is currently on silent treatment as I type this.
This will last for a hot minute. For some of you who do not know what a "hot minute" is, allow me to explain. It is the time period that you, the offender [and soon to be victim of said Filipina wife/gf/fiance], will have either said, didn't say, or was about to say, something ......but you didn't. Instead, you went staring into space while she was 'telling you what she wants you to do'. ***OH BOY, ARE YOU IN TROUBLE!***
For me, the first symptom of the hot minute begins with the deep sigh. This sigh is expelled slowly and it does not make any sound due to the restaint the body must take before it loses control, takes over, and the distal upper extremities pick up the nearest object to spank [him]!
Second sympton of a hot minute is the turning on the heel and walking, while thoughts of gestures using my 5 digits of the left hand begin. Maybe I get animated mentally. So I see visions of variations on how some of my fingers can be curled and maybe one extended for exercise. I term this my "Flip op exercises" [off --said with filipino accent].
Now the fun begins and the silent treatment is enforced. Now a little secret is that a Filipina who is in silent mode is deeply hurt and is refraining from saying something sharp because let me tell you the next thing that rolls off that tongue is equivalent to a spoon digging out your eyes! So, beware because she is basically licking the wounds off her heart. In truth, she loves you so much, please understand that her silence is gender sacred and it is universal among us Pacific Islander Girls. It's innate when we're born and our voice is louder when we are quiet; so it's really not intended to hurt her man, but to heal her pride. Know when a Filipina loves, she loves deeply; she protects that love intensely and with a fever. This explains why her man mustn't cease during attempts to correct, kiss and caress her so she can return to her beautiful self and love you more than she did the hot mintue before!

Hey gang. Ola passed his CCNA certification exam today! I am so proud of him and all he is doing to be with me and to ensure we have a successful future together. I know he is sitting at the hotel preparing for bed before that early morning walk to stand in line for the interview. I pray that my next post is that he has been approved and we are one step closer to being together again for the first time since December 4th. Sending all my love and prayers to the Decemberite family. I'm thankful that Im not on this crazy journey alone or I'd really be a mess.

Blackrose, I work for a domestic violence agency and we have attorneys to assist clients in our service area with issues such as this. Try calling your local DV agency to see if something can be done. Even if they can't help you legally, they can help you heal and learn from this so it never happens again. Your DV agency can help you put together what you need for immigration to do something about this. It gets tricky when you are the one who was arrested not him. You need a DV agency's help. 1-800-799-SAFE is the number for the National Domestic Violence Hotline. Strange but usually I deal with immigrants who are abused by the USC. I am sorry you had this experience.

Why can't you email the US Embassy in Ankara and ask for yourself? The best answer is the OFFICIAL ANSWER, not anyone's on VJ. We're not the authorities on this. That way you have everything in writing and you can have a record in your file (if they say yes, or if they say no). Every country's Embassy is different to accomodate the host country laws & customs in addition to our own US DOS Rules and Regulations. Really, you need to do some of the research yourself unless you know someone personally in our Turkish portal that has successfully accomplished this. Otherwise, I think you're beating a dead horse and never know unless YOU try. Right??

Participation in this thread does not preclude us from also participating in other threads for people going through the AOS process at the same time. Participation in this thread will, however, allow those of us who go through the process later than others to benefit from their experiences and learn in a comfortable environment where they've already interacted with the other thread members over the course of this year. Trust me, we ask a lot of repetitive or kind of dumb questions. This thread at least lets us cheer each other on and learn from each other without judgement.
This thread may not be very active now, but trust me, it will be. Check out our k1 thread, it got so big VJ had to shut it down and make us start a part 2. We interact a lot, and segregating those interactions in our own format allows us to keep in touch more easily and follow each others journeys more easily.
