Religion was the reason, according to the story, they were given for not performing the procedure. So if the story happened the way it's presented in this story, then it is partly to blame. Religion is sadly a driving force as to why people will or will not do things - good or bad. I would hate to see anyone else's religious beliefs negatively impact MY life. Especially somewhere like a hospital.

Two investigations are under way into the death of a woman who was 17 weeks pregnant, at University Hospital Galway last month.
Savita Halappanavar (31), a dentist, presented with back pain at the hospital on October 21st, was found to be miscarrying, and died of septicaemia a week later.
Her husband, Praveen Halappanavar (34), an engineer at Boston Scientific in Galway, says she asked several times over a three-day period that the pregnancy be terminated. He says that, having been told she was miscarrying, and after one day in severe pain, Ms Halappanavar asked for a medical termination.
She spent a further 2½ days “in agony” until the foetal heartbeat stopped.
Speaking from Belgaum in the Karnataka region of southwest India, Mr Halappanavar said an internal examination was performed when she first presented.
“The doctor told us the cervix was fully dilated, amniotic fluid was leaking and unfortunately the baby wouldn’t survive.” The doctor, he says, said it should be over in a few hours. There followed three days, he says, of the foetal heartbeat being checked several times a day.
“Savita was really in agony. She was very upset, but she accepted she was losing the baby.
So which part of this justifies the death of the mother?
... the hypocritical perspective of this church.
    It is not justifiable.

so, if they had travelled together INTO the UK, get the #### out of Ireland, the couple would not have had this problem.
Perhaps was a medical insurance thing, to stay in Ireland, as well?
If'n I was in the husband's position, after hearing the first 'no', I'd have tickets in hand to get to somewhere where abortion IS legal.
    Religion Sucks.

Do you ever get tired of saying the same, condesending "I know more than you" garbage? I sure get tired of reading it.
This woman was having a miscarriage. The child was not going to live. And they denied the mother the option of terminating her pregnancy, even though she was suffering, and they were told it's because they are a Catholic country. And now the mother is dead due to her complications. If that sits well with you, then great. I disagree. But what do I know, right?

It is about religious beliefs. When asked why they could not terminate the pregnancy to save the life of the mother, even though she knew she was micarrying the child, the reason they were given is "this is a Catholic country."
Did you even read the article?

Another example of why religious beliefs should have no power to dictate the care someone receives.

Honestly? I don't have sympathy for people who meet someone online and then in real life all of two times before they get married (all within a six month time frame) and then find out they've been scammed. I've been apart from my husband now for 14 months and we STILL have to complete NVC and the 601. I can't even tell you how hard it is to see people get approved and complete their journey in 4 months time when I have a REAL relationship, met him in REAL life and am not getting SCAMMED. So sue me for being so "judgmental" when this process is ANYTHING but fair.

I'll never understand why USCIS approves petitions for people who meet online and then in real life all of two times before getting married... but then when someone like me (who LIVED with my husband, WORKED with my husband, and was PREGNANT with his child) drives 400 miles in one day to marry him while he's detained in immigration jail, USCIS thinks I have a f***ing fake marriage and takes twice the amount of time to approve my petition. This sh!t pisses me off so much.

Americans in general (and this plays on these boards too) seem more obsessed by ideology than on practical, pragmatic approaches to solving real problems. Just look at the furore over healthcare reform - the arguments presented against it by people who would actually benefit by some sort of socialising of the system oppose it on purely ideological grounds, fear of communism, fear of government inefficiency or what have you.
Why do they do that? Why would someone oppose their own interest? Isn't that what politics is fundamentally about - "what are you going to do for me". People seem not to care much at all - half the time they don't even bother to read up on who or what they are voting for, they do it because they have always done it - and because to not do it would be to question their ideological comfort blanket.

I noticed that a lot too. It's how, for instance, people actually think that the health system is being used to kill off people who are ideologically opposed to the Democratic Party. Or how the President bumping fists with his wife is some sort of terrorist salute.
I always held out hope that the evening news is just for entertainment and that most Americans don't buy into that BS on a literal level, but it seems that many do.

There are times I don't agree with Michael Moore but on this occasion he is spot on. Point two stands out like a sore thumb, I've never seen a westernized country like the USA display so much paranoia and fear from its own media and politicians.

I doubt it's to do with the size of the population.
Every country has it's share of nutcases, but these rampage mass murders seem to be more of an American disease.
The UK has had 3 of those incidents in the last... what? 25 years? You're lucky if you have less than 3 a year.

I'll be honest. I'm having trouble following what you're saying.
But I don't really care what the "function and definition" of marriage was in 1800. We've come a long way since then, thank goodness. I wouldn't want to go backwards.
We generally agree in this country that discrimination based on sexual orientation is wrong. Why should marriage be any different?
I'll say again, I haven't heard one compelling reason why gay people should not be allowed to get married.

    Isn't it a value judgment?
At one time the consensus culture was that interracial marriage was a no-no.
That changed slowly and eventually a critical mass of pro-interracial marriage people existed and the laws changed. It was disruptive but it only happened because the cultural change necessary to make it happen had already occurred to a sufficient extent.
The same is true for gay marriage today. There is a cultural shift underway and Danno is stuck on the old side of this shift. One day, critical mass will be achieved in this country and gay marriage will become just part of the marriage landscape the way interracial marriage is today.
One wonders what the next cultural shift will be.

She flooded the forum - not just any forum, but the "case progress" section - with questions, didn't like the answers so said they must be false, and now is accusing people of mistreating her. I hope she DOES carry that attitude with her to her interview. But I'm mean like that...
If you put her stuff together...her husband has not filed taxes for 2 years. She has maybe 3 pictures of them together, and none of her husband with their child. No joint financial stuff. She's going to the interview with her child's birth certificate and a few pieces of mail, addressed individually, that goes to the same address as her husband's mail.
After what some others on here have been through during their interviews, she BETTER have problems, or the system's really screwed up.

What this boils down to is that you want us, and more importantly (because what we think truly doesn't matter one bit), the USCIS offical you'll be interviewing with to take your word for it that your marriage is real and you intend to live life as a married couple from here on. Whether you like it or not, the USCIS employee is probably going into this interview thinking your marriage is for immigration purposes, and it's up to you to prove it's not.
Let me make that clear: The burden of proof is on you to prove your marriage is genuine, not on the USCIS offical to prove it's not.
So, given that statement, based on what we've been able to gather in your other posts, you'll be walking into an interview under the following conditions:
    - Very few photos of you and your husband together (you yourself said there are maybe 3)
    - No photos of your son and your husband together
    - Husband didn't file taxes for a year
    - Husband can't really prove he's working now
    - Husband can't locate his birth certificate
    - There are NO documents (financial, legal, lease, or otherwise) with both your names on it
Every single person on this forum is telling you that you have some real obstacles to overcome given all this information, and they said so based on your request for their advice. You are posting on a forum with people going through the same 'journey' you are, so you aren't going to find another group of people anywhere that are more sympathetic to your cause.
Do you think the USCIS office is going to be more or less sympathetic to you? If you answered 'less', you win the grand prize. People here are trying hard to help you. Don't complain because their advice isn't what you want to hear.
Just like others have said, good luck.

First of all you got married with a selfish person and this kind the woman won' t be never happy with you or anybody else cause she can't see anyone besides herself. LIFE is too short to spend it in poor relationship. You deserve better. Second she can't decide that you have to go back to your country. It's better if you call your parents explain whats going on and tell them not to answer her phone calls anymore.Gather all proof you got married in bonafide, leave your house and find a place to stay , man she will call the cops for you with false allegations such domestic violence.Leave the house before she screw up your life for real.Probably she will harass you or threat you then if this happen get a restraining order against her go to the bank and put some hold in your joint account before she take away all the money. Probably she will divorce you and after the divorce you can file the I-751 waiver. It's very clear she never loved you then accept it and move on.Peace
