They wanted to see my marriage and divorce certificate at the interview based on 5 year GC. It's better to be too prepared than not prepared. Good luck
Is your ex naturalized? If not, you're still on the hook for the I-864
To share a little bit of my experience with you: I'm the foreigner. I divorced my American husband and married another foreigner within a month of my divorce. I sponsored his green card and ultimately he got naturalized. It all went smoothly.
Hi there, just adding my experience. I went to Germany and came back to the US while I was living separated from my US husband. He lived in a different State. We were still figuring out our marriage at this point. I answered all CBP questions honestly. They wanted to know where I live and where he lived. I was let back in without a problem.
I sent in some more documents and copies of everything previously submitted. The boy left to his home country today. If it doesn't work out now, I'll suggest to him that he applies once he's 18 because he won't need anymore custody and other documents anymore.
They were documents from Nicaragua. I'm sure the father could get copies if he ever goes back but I dont know if that's going to happen. It's not going to happen in the next 90 days that's for sure.
That's not going to happen. I'll let the 90 days expire so they can send back the originals they're asking for. My son will have to go to the embassy in his home country once he turns 18 to get his passport. Nothing I can do about it.
I have attached the letter my son got for his passport. He's 17 and all the documents they're requesting were sent in with the original application and I'm unable to provide them again as they were originals. Father's naturalization certificate has been returned. Suggestions please?
My husband had a 3 year rule citizenship interview in August and I, the US citizen, wasn't allowed in. He had a 10 year green card as well. We never needed ROC because his status was adjusted after we were married for 2+ years.
Sounds like y'all are frustrated about the wait and the process. Remember that if you withdraw the visa, you cannot withdraw the withdrawal. You'll start from scratch. Are you sure this isn't something you guys can talk about?
I agree but it's not my choice to make.
He wants to live in his birth country from what I understood.
He probably won't for some time.
Thank you the application has already been filed.
