I would of course exhaust all avenues of the visa process first. If all else fails I would absolutely move to the Philippines to be with my soon to be wife. It doesn't matter where we are in the world as long as we are together. It's very possible to make this happen since the money that I can save here in the U.S. would go an extremely long way there.

guessing here that you dont have children; once you do then you will know whether or not you are one of those who get them or not and it will put your mind at ease. there is a nice market for those who fear the stretch mark
look at your mother, if she has them you probably will too; if she went through 6 kids and hasnt a one, then you probably wont either. depends on genetics and skin elasticity.
lotions wont hurt you and are nice for your skin, but they will not prevent or eliminate stretch marks
men too get them, especially football (american football) players who bulk up then lose weight.

    Abstract
BackgroundStriae gravidarum (stretch marks developing during pregnancy) occur in over 50% of women. There is no evidence that any treatment removes striae once they have appeared. Some women are upset about the change in the appearance of their skin.
ObjectivesTo assess the effects of topical treatments in preventing the development of stretch marks.
Search strategyWe searched the Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth Group's Trials Register (April 2004). We updated this search on 1 October 2009 and added the results to the awaiting classification section.
Selection criteriaRandomised trials comparing active creams with either no treatment or placebo for the treatment of stretch marks in pregnant women.
Data collection and analysisTwo review authors assessed trial quality and extracted data independently.
Main resultsTwo studies, involving 130 women in total, were included.
One study, involving 80 women, indicated that, compared to placebo, massage with a cream (Trofolastin) containing Centella asiatica extract, alpha tocopherol and collagen-elastin hydrolysates was associated with less women developing stretch marks (odds ratio (OR) 0.41, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.17 to 0.99). A second study of 50 women compared massage using an ointment (Verum) containing tocopherol, panthenol, hyaluronic acid, elastin and menthol with no treatment. Massage with the ointment was associated with less women developing stretch marks (OR 0.26, 95% CI 0.08 to 0.84)
Authors' conclusionsTrofolastin cream appears to help prevent the development of stretch marks in pregnancy in some women. Verum ointment may be helpful but the trial had no placebo and may show the benefit of massage alone.
[Note: The three citations in the awaiting classification section of the review may alter the conclusions of the review once assessed.]
    Plain language summary
Creams for preventing stretch marks in pregnancy
Stretch marks may be prevented in some women by daily massage but it is unclear if any particular ingredients bring special benefit.
Stretch marks are common by the end of pregnancy, occurring in most women. Though they later shrink and fade somewhat, they do not go away. Therefore, any treatment which prevented them would be welcomed by many women. The two papers reviewed may show that any cream massaged onto the abdomen, thighs and breasts (areas most affected by stretch marks) may help a little. There may be additional benefit from certain ingredients in the cream and the ointment described but it is unknown which constituent(s) is beneficial. Neither preparation is widely available.
    ------------------------
it was 2 tiny studies (130 women total) using a cream not available to the public and this write up sounds like perhaps a university doing drug trials for the drug company... common thing here at OSU. conclusions are author's only, not those of the study participants.
truly, speak to any group of mothers, obgyns, and get the scoop. the cosmetic companies who sell these creams are out to make a buck... i used nothing because my dr told me same as any legit dr will tell you "if your mother had them you will have them, dont waste your money", and i dont have even one. i know two women who look like they were carved up from their chests to almost their knees because even their chests (not just breasts) and arms and thighs got it, though both of them gained HUGE amounts of weight when pregnant too so that probably contributed. if your skin does not have elasticity it will not handle huge weight gains like that.
so anyway, was just trying to dispel the myth perpetuated by drug/cosmetic companies... hate when people get their money ripped off. some nice oil massage is just as nice, less expensive, and benefits the skin after a shower to hold moisture in, as well as continued good diet and exercise during pregnancy is best.
some people treat pregnancy as an excuse to lay around getting fat

I did some light reading, and I happen to think this is all 'spin'...she and her ex built that business and have since split. I think the sale was also, if not primarily, for that reason.
And let's face it...she's 36. Now, I'm not calling her old by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm sure there are tons of men (and women) who would love her to continue her porn career into the future. But with new, younger 'starlets' on the horizon every day, she was at the twilight of her porn career anyway. Best to go out on top than to have a dwindling fan base in future.

But she didn't do it to 'turn over a new leaf'....she did it while growing a porn empire. She used her 'celebrity' as a porn actress to cross over to mainstream Hollywood. And while I will defend her right to be a porn star, I find the notion of 'celebrity' as a porn star to be quite baffling. More so, I find it an insult to the trained and accomplished actors/resess to have to regard a common ####### as a peer.
I don't want my kids growing up in a world where porn stars are not only widely accepted, but regarded with awe. Sorry.

I don't know if you're a troll or not, but I'll post anyways... People have been asking if you the baby is really yours or not. In my opinion, it doesn't matter. You know you at least had sex with another women and that is CHEATING. I don't feel sorry for you at all. If you really love someone, I don't see why you would even think to cheat on that person. You better tell your fiancee what's going on. Poor woman...

As far as I know the only thing the Affadavit of Support really means is that should you become a ward of the state, etc. then he could be sued and made to pay any monies back that was used to support you. Or that his income would be counted in any monetary based aid that you might apply for.
It does not necessarily mean that he will support you and I really don't think you can do anything to make him (apart from the child support) actually.
Please someone correct me if I am wrong.

The person on the other end of the phone told you five months because they are told that it can take five months to process. They will never tell you any other time frame. This does not mean it won't happen sooner. In my estimation, if CSC doesn't take another break like the 2 month hiatus this year, many of us will see our NOA2s in 3-4 months. Just don't be surprised if it is 5 months. It's best to plan on it being five months, stay away from this message board but a couple times a week (or less), and find things to occupy your time until you get an unexpected email from CSC.

That means that petitions filed in September won't be processed until February which will be 5 months from filing. They have to process the rest of June, July and August filers first so until they process those, September ones are of course on hold.

After reading your prior posts at some of the China specific sites, I would say that Marc has probably given you some sage advice. There are a couple of big red flags in your case that Guangzhou will focus on and including the death certificate of your fiancée’s former husband in your initial petition will help address one of those at the very beginning. My guess of Marc's recommendation to perform your own background check is just to rule out any other red flags - not sure if he actually wants you to include the results in your petition but rather just to rule out any other potential/unexpected issues.
Good Luck - I hope that all goes well with your case!

    Regarding the background check:
I sort of thought of it like getting a mortgage. Do you need to submit your credit report with the paperwork? No, they'll look at it themselves. BUT, if you order your own credit report first, you might have an opportunity to see/address/correct any information in there which you feel may not be completely accurate.
All that said, I didn't do a background check on myself, and....I didn't get my credit report on my own before applying for a mortgage either, just pointing toward commonly given and widely accepted as a good proactive step in a somewhat analogous process.

The attorney is talking about a public records check for the petitioner. The consulates have access to Lexis Nexis, and they often pull up records on the petitioner to look for suspicious circumstances (addresses listed that were not declared on the G-325A, etc.) or to get info for questions for the interview (for example, how much you paid for your home, or any businesses you own or professional licenses you have). These records used to be available through ChoicePoint, but Lexis Nexis bought them out.
You can still get copies of your personal reports under the FACT Act of 2003 for no charge. The instructions are here:
    http://www.lexisnexis.com/risk/factact/
This won't give you access to every piece of data Lexis Nexis has because some of it is not covered by the FACT Act, so they're not required to disclose it to you. The reports from ChoicePoint were more comprehensive.
BTW, the same attorney made the same suggestion to me. I obtained a copy of my report before the interview. I have it on good faith that the consulate did, as well.

Not to sound like an expert here, but Gary, you do not know Guangzhou. Please refrain from sounding knowledgable when it comes to China. You may have all the answers when it comes to other countries but Guangzhou is a whole different beast.
I know who the attorney is by the references made and I would follow his advice. I would not be so quick to dismiss the advice of an attorney who is well versed with the embassy at Guangzhou and has battled them at the top.
One thing Gaungzhou is going to want is proof of where the ex-spouse currently resides. Since he is looking at the grass from the brown side, I would document that in the application. USCIS is going to gloss over that but they WILL look at it in Guangzhou.
I would not chance a Blue slip on this information if it is readliy available. Petitions that end up in Guangzhou have to be front loaded as much as humanely possible.
OP, It's your petition. Do you feel lucky?

It is generally a good idea if you want help and advice to not be rude...hence the first line of your quote. Generally "I need help and here is why" is much better. FYI.
Furthermore, I sincerely hope your step daughter becomes well soon. Although I know you didn't ask for this advice, I am going to give it to you anyway. If there is ANY WAY what-so-ever your wife can work while your daughter is in the hospital she NEEDS to work. I sat there day by day while my ex-husband sat there on life support and it did nothing to help other than to run out my FMLA, leave him stranded when he could have REALLY used my help when he came out of the hospital, and deplete my 401k. He was sick for over 4 months, and it was a waste of my time to sit there...I know it sounds horrid, but it's the truth. If she can rearrange her work schedule or anything to keep from missing work it will help everyone in the long run!

I am an American, born and raised. I believe in democracy, not some commie ####### that would have us no better than North Korea or Cuba for instance. The Constitution of the USA is not to be tread upon by anyone, that includes the president, congress, and any other fed. Treading on the laws of the USA is for anti American commies who should be deported ASAP!
If anyone including the FBI is going to spit on the Constitution of this country, then I say deport their commies arses to some third world commie dictatorship ####### hole where they belong. This is the USA, not North Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, Belarus or some other commie run dictatorship.
Putting those GPS locators on anything without getting a proper warrant to do so is nothing more than third world commie ####### IMO. We are either law abiding Americans, or we are like those law breaking commie FBI folks who broke the law and spit on the Constitution of the United States of America.
Your not one of those commies who spit on our Constitution are ya Hop ?
