JeannieL got a reaction from amye in Canada Immigration & K1 Guide for Montreal
Great work :-) This will be a great help to people throughout the process. When people post questions we can refer them to this post :-) .....In saying that....as I mentioned to Ralyse when she asked me to read over what she had some time ago...lets not forget how we felt when we were starting out and the emotions that we felt, scared, happy, confused, excited just to name a few. I have seen some pretty rude answers to peoples questions recently (not just in the Canada forum). This is a site for people to come for help, and support. Lets keep offering that with great answers to make people feel at ease.
Thanks again Ralyse for all the time you spent putting that together. I hope that it gets pinned soon if it hasn't already :-)

JeannieL reacted to Used to be broken in Annoyed with rude responses on VJ
Here is my take on this after using Vj for several years
Impatience with the process fosters grumpiness in almost everyone at some point.
A little more in-depth analysis of different visa categories seems to shed light on what appeared to be
    rudeness in the forums.
Based on many of the comments, It seemed to me that there is a category of applicant for VISA's .. that feel entitled to recieve thier VISA because
they feel superior in either educational or moral attributes to other applicants.
Another observation on attitudes if you will is toward I601 forum and any other applicant/ poster that is in need of a waiver of any sort.
the posts in reply to these folks are often very rude and condescending. A mini vent here this one struck me personally as most offensive
to see a 3-4th generation US Citizen in a long term marriage with waiver "issues" being cut to shreds by someone who met thier spouse on line 3 months ago
claim moral high ground and tossing snide comments.
The waiver forum consequently has never really developed on this site and most often rather than answer questions and work on forum development
in this area , the posters are encouraged to jump ship and go to I2US.net . This always baffeled me even some of the people who appear to work
or volunteer on this site seem to encourage waiver cases to leave the forum and go elsewhere for answers.
Another area of rudeness is the "newbies" who jump in complaining they have been waiting for a couple weeks.. and sound annoyed
to seasoned VJ users who have been waiting patiently for a long time this rubs the wrong way...
many newbies come on the board and rather as suggested above than read the guides and become "socially aware" of the forum they are posting in, just spam the board with nonsense and eventually someone pops out rude comments.

That's correct. The approval came via text/email. I found out the card was in production the same day by going on the USCIS website.

Slow down...Read what people are saying to you. You DID the right thing by sending it to the Dallas Lockbox. ALL I-129F petitions get send to that address then are opened there and sent to either Vermont or California for processing. So you don't need to send another copy to anyone.
You should always make a duplicate copy of everything you send during this process anyway. So make another packet up for your records but don't send it again.

I stayed at LaTour Centerville. It is right across the street from the consulate. I had a small suite with a kitchenette for less that $100. a night. It was very clean and comfortable. I would stay there again.

Wait for the RFE ....It won't slow the process down any if you send it right after you get the RFE. A friend of mine sent her packet in the same time I did. She got an RFE for something simple and sent it in, she got her EAD the same time I got mine.

My biggest piece of advice is, if you haven't hired the lawyer and paid him, don't. With the forms and forums on this site you can do it yourself and save a huge chunk of money. Look over the sample forms, also check the CR1 forum and the regional Canada forum. There is so much great advice here.
Wishing you the best on your wedding day :-)

Don't worry about the number that was on your packet 3 that you sent in. You will receive a new waybill or reference number when your packet is picked up at Montreal by DHL. Some people (including myself) didn't even use DHL to send packet 3 to Montreal. It won't be an issue. Relax and wait for the email or phone call :-)

There are so many correct and incorrect answers for everything in this process....I would have to say the DMV was the worst experience of it all so far. ....Anyway I just checked my SSN card and it says.....Valid for work only with DHS authorization. It's in my maiden name because when I went back to change it after we were married they said they couldn't do it until I got my EAD which I am hoping will come very soon :-)

I included a few boarding passes. Tickets themselves are not proof that you traveled. I included 6 photos of us together at different times. I also included a page of phone calls and a couple chat pages. No need to overload them with paperwork they will probably not even look at. All they want to know is that you have met in the past 2 years in person.
    Good Luck :-)

JeannieL got a reaction from TheFantastics09 in TO JEANNIEL HAPPY WEDDING WISHES TODAY
Thanks everyone for the sweet words. We had a beautiful day for the wedding. We were married at 11am on July 23rd. About 25 people in attendance. It was outside in a friends back yard. It was too hot to hold the reception outside so most ate indoors. We had a caterer do a southern bbq, (for those who don't know what that is, it's pulled pork in a vinegary sauce on a bun with coleslaw) salads, beans......I couldn't eat much but everyone said it was very good. We stayed at a local motel that night, then the next morning we drove to Maryland, then to West Virginia and back home late that night. Kenny says that was our minimoon. We are going to Florida in October for a week, my matron of honor has a condo there and offered it to us as a wedding present for a week.
Again thanks for the congrats :-)
    Starting AOS sometime this week.....yikes!

Looks like you have everything in order :-) I hope that you get through the NVC process quickly and on to Montreal.
As to KASH response.....Montreal requires the DS-160 to be done online and a copy sent with packet 3. Montreal does not require the DS-157. There are different requirements for different consulates, please be careful when giving information on a consulate that you are unfamiliar with :-)
