I'll add my receipt date when I can. I have to admit it's a bit confusing as to why we need to put the 'receipt' date. I'd consider when you get the letter to be more important as to me the day I got my NOA1 is the day I got it in the mail....
But I'll change it. I just guess I don't see the difference. Honestly the format should be changed to NOA1 Receipt Date to eliminate confusion many seem to be having with the deceptive NOA1 date (title).
Or honestly something that indicates it's actually when they received your application and not when you got the NOA1.

You do know that all packages are put in an intake center and not picked up until later in the day, right? I bet yours is sitting in the box. Relax, it's 4 hours late...

Wow, this has been one of the strangest threads I've ever seen.
I've always been of the opinion that this site serves more than one purpose. First, and most importantly, people get information on immigration. But this site also provides something else very important to some of us. We get support from other people; probably the only people we know who truly understand how difficult this process is.
This is definitely the place where people should be allowed to vent and release the frustration that always seems to be present during this ordeal.

The "NOA1 Date" you see people recording on the list is actually the date that USCIS receives your paperwork. It is not the date that you receive the NOA letter in the mail. So, for example, we received our NOA letter in snail mail on January 11th, but on the list under "NOA1 Date" we recorded the January 3rd "Receipt Date" that USCIS puts on the NOA letter.
So it looks (deceptively) like we received our NOA just three days after we submitted our packet. In reality, it took about 11 days for us to receive our NOA letter.
I hope that helps clarify things.

Yaysl seems like everything is moving along for everyone. I hope we all have a smooth rest of our journey.

First off, my sincere condolences. My marriage went t!ts up due to infidelity 11 months after we entered the US, despite having lived together abroad for a couple of years before we made the move. He and I tried to reconcile for almost a year while living separately, and did six months of marital therapy. Ultimately, though, you both have to be committed to counselling to make it work, and he wasn't. (In retrospect, although the break-up was cataclysmic, I've come out the other end happier and healthier than I've ever been as an adult.)
You need to step back from all of this for a while, even though it is all you can think about (and will be for some time). What is the outcome you desire most of all? Is that outcome realistic? Does it involve her? Does she want to be involved?
There are many on here who will say once a cheater, always a cheater. Personally, I don't agree that this is always the case. But you do need to look at your wife's history in this matter, and determine whether you can trust her. I don't know about you, but what was most painful to me was that he lied to me. Not being with another woman, but all the lies. He still lies to me about what happened, even though he and I have grown to be friends again. When you marry someone, you open yourself to them completely, bring them yourself and trust them with your heart and soul and body. Breaking that trust can be fatal. Only you and she know whether the trust can be rebuilt.
My best advice would be not to do anything rash right now, when you are at your most vulnerable and most raw. It feels surreal, like you're walking in a dream, I know. If you can stay with friends now, do. Talk to your friends and family. They know you best. There are people on here who will tell you to go home, you have nothing invested here. Only you know how much you have invested here, in terms of life and relationship.
It is your decision. Be strong, and take courage.

To all those saying to "work it out" I say screw that! If anyone ever pulled the threat of "pack your stuff and go back" with me, I'd be gone. If I did that to my wife, she would be gone as well, and I couldn't blame her. This guy sounds like a control freak. Control freaks don't get better, they get worse. I don't care how angry, hurt, insecue you are. Don't go throwing around threats about your SOs immigration status, especially when there's a child involved.
I know there are two sides to every story, but based on what the OP is telling us he sounds like a nut.

If that's the best advice you can offer, better don't give any advice.

I have to agree with everyone else. The fact that she didn't tell you about this should be setting off alarms in your head. I can't count how many people have posted on this forum after their fiancee arrived in the US, got married, and then turned into bridezilla. At that point, it was obvious to them that they'd been played for a green card, and almost all of them say that there was an alarm like this early in the relationship but they chose to ignore it.
If I were in your shoes, I'd pull the plug. If the petition is allowed to expire (which is likely with CSC) then don't file another one. Tell her you are hurt by the fact that she hid this from you, and you'd like at least another year or two to allow your relationship to develop before you consider filing another petition. If she drops you like a hot potato then you've got your answer.

It is hard for me to imagine that a girl would be willing to marry two different men in a span of less than 6 months. Marriage is not a joke, it's a serious institution. If the first guy broke her heart, I don't see how easy it would be for her to meet someone else, fall in love, and be ready for marriage again in just a total span of 6 months. From the OP's story, when you factor the time between filing a petition and an NOA2, it seems she jumped on the OP's boat almost immediately the first one did not work out. OP, please you need to rethink this again thoroughly. She hid some facts from, got you proposing immediately after her last, ...are you sure she really loves you? As bitter as it may sound, I smell a rat ...or a fish.

Sounds like your girl is fishing for foreigners. You might want to get to know her very well first before you continue. What else is she not telling you? You can get the previous petitioner's contact from her and try to have a friendly chat with him. Find out why he did not follow through with her (hopefully their stories match). There may be other things you would find out from him that your girl would not let you know. If all goes well, then you can have him withdraw any pending petition so you can initiate yours again.

RUN, and do not look back

I think that there have been enough responses on this and I think that you can see that everyone is supportive but also strongly leaning towards a consensus that there is an issue with her reasoning for delay. There are probably many factors at play that are causing her to react this way and only the two of you can resolve this. However, unless every other facet of this women is perfect, then I would seriously question a person who places so much value on the cost and glamor of an event over the possibility of being together at an earlier time. I also feel that a couple in which one partner focuses on the financial benefit of the relationship rather than the other person will ultimately face many hardships and often failure over time. Consider these issues and move forward rationally and with conviction to prevent future heartache, my friend.

I too was curious about your ages when I read the post. I was married (the first time) 2 months before I turned 22. I had the big wedding with the dress, flowers, the place, the photographer, the cake, you name it. I seriously want your fiance to see this post...
1. The train of the dress was permanently stained because the venue didn't MOP before the wedding.
2. The photographer drove me absolutely nuts during the entire wedding and I spent most of the time on the back patio trying to hide from her. When I wasn't hiding from her I was arguing with her about how I WAS NOT going to change out of my dress 20 minutes after the wedding and "fake" leaving so she could go home early.
3. My $450.00 cake fell over- Never purchase a "quake cake" apparently it's literal.
4. The AC went out
5. My mom forgot my wedding dress at the cleaners and had to call and beg them to get it before the wedding.
6. I puked every day for 2 months straight from the stress of getting married.
7. It was supposed to take an hour to do my hair...it took 3.
Do you want me to keep going? Not that I wasn't happy to have it at the time, when I look back on it, A LOT of it was wasted money. My mom offered me $5,000 to go to Vegas and get married instead of the wedding planning...When I look back, I wish I HAD gone that route.
So, I am married again. The TOTAL cost for my second wedding was less than $250.00. No vomit, no stained dress, no crappy over paid photographers. I had a brand new dress, fresh flowers I purchased and arranged, a cake from Sam's Club, and was surrounded by friends and family while married by a JP in my brother's backyard.
Can you guess which wedding I would rather have again?

Come on Amy, give this poor girl a break! How many people know anything about the paperwork and processes involved in any of this in any country, unless they or a family member goes through it. Her story is heartbreaking. I, for one, hope very much that she will qualify for one of those scarce waivers. Her husband needs to be getting his congress-man and senators working on this for him also. Hang in there Rose, rules must sometimes have exceptions and I think you deserve such consideration!

I think that over the years, Hollywood has given the impression that if you marry an American, you're automatically entitled to come to/stay in this country. I have talk to many people that think this is true and asked me why I didn't just marry my fiancée in the Philippines and bring her here on a plane when I returned from visiting her.

I think a lot of posters forget that English is not everyone's first language. Sometimes, the same thing has to be explained in a couple different ways for someone else to grasp it. That's no one's fault, it's just how it works. Either you want to help or you don't. I agree with this thread and I'm glad it was posted. This isn't the kind of place where being belittled should be accepted If you want to be a d*ck, realize that not a single person appreciates it, and it doesn't make you look smart, dignified, or respectful. Take it somewhere else.

I'm very pleased you've broached this subject, Tero. We are very privileged to have this website and forum, as it is a wealth of information and emotional support at a time when things in life are uncertain and difficult. Many posts to the forum are extremely personal and fragile, perhaps things we would usually not tell a stranger, but things only people going through the same process can understand.
In this age of detachment we often forget there are people on the other end of the internet, real people to whom their problems are devastating. If you can't help a person with their issue, and don't feel able to give them a supporting word, zip your lip and move on to a different subject. As you say, we are all adults, we are responsible for our choices and endeavors, let's all treat each other with the respect we deserve.
